Some of the most fascinating stories are the ones we rarely hear about.

The Tanners of Trinidad: History, Indigenous Knowledge, and Legacy of a Vanishing Leather Industry by Reishma Sankar explores a little-known part of Trinidad and Tobago's history: the traditional craft of turning animal hides into leather.

Through historical research, photographs, oral accounts and technical explanations, the book brings attention to the generations of artisans who kept this industry alive. From traditional tanning methods using mangrove bark and lime pits to the industry's gradual decline, it documents a heritage that risks disappearing as fewer craftspeople continue the work.

This book highlights why preserving traditional knowledge matters, especially when that knowledge is held by a shrinking number of people.
A valuable read for anyone interested in cultural heritage, forgotten industries and the stories that deserve to be carried forward. by @potternerd_24

Honestly, I thought it would be boring legal stuff, but it's so gripping. The idea that our judiciary is so exhausted that we need an AI judge: so relatable right now. And then the AI goes full cosmic mode and starts connecting with karma? I finished it in less sittings. Easy language, no heavy legal jargon, just pure thrill. by @potternerd_24

I loved how the book normalizes changing your mind. Nothing terrible happened when Elara took the quiet path or stayed back to finish her drawing - what a great lesson for anxious kids. The language is simple, calm, perfect for story time. And the art! The colors are so soft and warm. Highly recommend for schools. by @potternerd_24

BOOK REVIEW
There are messages that are heard, but not remembered, and there are messages that are heard and remembered. It's the message behind that sometimes makes all of the difference.
The Story Map provided me with a fresh insight into ways to communicate that are more memorable, engaging, compelling, and persuasive with the use of some stories. I really liked the hands on approach and how it related storytelling, branding and audience psychology.
For anyone who will want to better communicate ideas and build better relationships with others. by @potternerd_24

Since I am not very fond of reading books that are characterised as educational and provide technical knowledge in finance, I was genuinely surprised by how much interest I had while going through this book. It gave me a possibility to investigate the patterns regarding the dollar index and provided me with essential knowledge on the topic. I think I would describe my experience of reading the book as both knowledge providing and discovering since it was the first time I was intentionally learning about financial concepts like the dollar index. by @potternerd_24

That question is at the heart of The Shadow Weaver, and I think that's what makes the book more interesting than a straightforward fantasy about parallel universes.

The story follows Mayaa, whose understanding of reality slowly begins to fall apart. Strange inconsistencies, mysterious clues, alternate realities and secrets about her own identity pull her into a much larger journey. As she moves between different worlds, the book explores not only the idea of a multiverse but also identity, memory, choice and self-discovery.

I particularly liked how the different realities become a way of exploring the familiar "what ifs" of life. What if we had taken a different decision? What if one small choice had changed everything? What if another version of us existed somewhere, living the life we sometimes imagine for ourselves?

The fantasy elements give the story its scale, but Mayaa's personal journey gives it its emotional core. I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding her past and the gradual discovery of truths about who she is.

The book is more introspective than action-heavy, so readers looking for constant twists and fast-paced adventure may find some sections slower. But if you enjoy fantasy that combines imagination with questions about existence and identity, there's plenty here to think about.

For me, the biggest takeaway was simple:

We are shaped not only by the choices we make, but also by all the choices we leave behind.

A thoughtful debut with an ambitious concept, imaginative world-building and plenty of "what if?" moments that stay with you after the book is over. by @potternerd_24

Running a business often feels like constant chaos, so this book's message of finding clarity within complexity resonated deeply with me. Mukesh Sud blends behavioural insights with real examples, making his ideas easy to apply immediately. The chapters on experimentation and learning from failure especially spoke to my own journey, reminding me that progress rarely comes from overthinking, but from taking small, thoughtful steps. What sets this book apart is its practicality, nothing feels forced or overly academic. I finished it with a fresh perspective on how I approach problems at work. Highly recommend it to anyone building something of their own. by @potternerd_24

What if the strongest person in a conflict is the one who refuses to let anger decide the next move? Ahamasmi Yodha keeps returning to that idea.

Munmun Das Neogi's Krishna is active, strategic and deeply involved in difficult decisions. The book discusses battles, but also diplomacy, retreat, protection and timing. The Ranchhod episode is particularly revealing because the same action can look like defeat when judged by ego and like strategy when judged by purpose.

Maps, illustrations and ancient weapon references make the setting vivid. The archaeology sections are interesting, although they work best as areas for exploration rather than certainty. I finished the book thinking less about Krishna's power and more about his decisions. by @potternerd_24

The title made me curious because roshogolla is a recognisable reference. The stories build on that combination of travel and familiarity, sending Bengali women into places far removed from home.

The nine protagonists keep the collection moving. Their personalities, relationships and ways of handling new situations prevent the destinations from becoming the attraction. Food and cultural detail give the stories an Indian texture.

I liked the lightness of the book. It could have overexplained the stereotype. Instead, the women live beyond it. Their passports and adventures make the argument naturally. The variety keeps Where Is the Roshogolla? from feeling like a travel diary, while characters remain more important than scenery. by @potternerd_24

There are some stories that do not get old, but they find new readers. Amrit Kalash is a collection of tales from Indian mythology—memorable ones that have a new opportunity to be experienced through a modern, accessible retelling.
I liked the most was that these stories are not just of gods and heroes and extraordinary events. Behind the myth is a very real emotion: love, duty, courage, sacrifice, ambition, grief and the ramifications of our choices. The stories are so relatable despite being from an ancient tradition, thanks to the emotions attached.
The collection also offers a beautiful glimpse into the richness and diversity of Indian mythology. There may be some stories you already know, but it is nice to hear them again as a group and to see the different points of view or different lessons you can learn from each story.
Overall Amrit Kalash is a warm and engaging read for anyone who loves mythology, Indian culture and stories that go on to have significance for generations to come.

Some historical tales aren't simply about war; they're about the people behind the uniforms, the homes behind the scenes, the feelings they brined into war.
But the most interesting aspect of Anthem of the Thar is the way it attempts to show the example of the Jodhpur Lancers and their lives in the First World War from an Indian point of view, which is not adequately highlighted in other books. The contrast between the peaceful Thar landscape and distant battlefields has provided the story with great scale and atmosphere.
The most emotional part is the human side of the story – courage, friendship, loyalty, fear and sacrifice. But when these people fight far from home, it's not just about what they do, it's about what they leave behind, and what they're willing to do to get it.
The setting and detail were historical as well, which I appreciated but for fast-paced fiction fans might be a bit challenging at times.
Overall, Anthem of the Thar is a touching exploration of a little known facet of Indian military history. A story that reminds each of us that there are real people, real emotions and real sacrifices behind every battle that need to be remembered.

Book name - sanctum key

What if some of the biggest questions about existence could be explored through the lens of science? That thought alone makes this book an interesting read.
The Sanctum Key brings together an intriguing atmosphere of scientific exploration, mystery, and spirituality. Even from the cover, the combination of the satellite dish, mathematical symbols, and dark landscape creates a sense that there is something hidden waiting to be discovered.
What I found appealing is the central curiosity behind the book—how far can science take us when we try to understand something as profound as God and existence? It is a concept that encourages the reader to think rather than simply accept things at face value.
That said, the book's themes are quite specific, so readers who enjoy purely light or fast-paced stories may not connect with it as much. But if you enjoy science, mystery, philosophy, and questions about the unknown, this definitely has an interesting premise worth exploring.
Overall, it gives the impression of a thoughtful and unconventional journey into the unknown. by @potternerd_24
