I don’t think we truly understand love until we’ve wrestled with death. In the face of loss, we are forced to also face the truth that all things in life have both a start and an end… except love. When you discover your person, it’s as if they have known you your whole life, and you realize they will be a part of you forever… or maybe they have always been a part of you forever. In the darkness and void of grief, we finally stop searching for hope & meaning because we understand that we are the artist creating it each day through experiences of love. In the depths of suffering, we realize that true love outlives time, space, and death no matter our pain. Gone for now and still forever present. It is unlike any other feeling in this life…

Only the luckiest people find a love this true, and I found it in you. You found it in me. Lord knows there’s not a day that I wake without missing your presence. I regret that it took death to fully understand & appreciate the love we shared, but each day I love deeper & purer because you taught me how limited our time is to share it with those around us. Because of you, I live with more purpose knowing it’s up to me to both discover and create what God has planned for me. So why waste time on this journey when we never know what day will be our last?

I wish more than anything to have more time with you Rakeem, but each step I take forward, I’m reminded that I am only here because of your love. You saved me from who I was and helped me become who I was destined to be. For that, I am forever thankful. For that, I am forever hopeful that you can live through me s f writhing all of us. I wish you were here to celebrate the wins & pick me up from the losses, but I have no doubt that you’re still with us every day. Thank you for a timeless, limitless, boundless love. Hold it down until we meet again. I love you all the numbers in the world. 🌎❤️‍🩹🕊

Grateful for the game that reminded me how to fight. I needed somewhere to put my pain & hooping was the only thing that felt right 🙏🏽❤️‍🩹🏀
