XDS X-LAB AD8 in Starlight Blue/White. $4,499.

Hot take: this is the best-looking paint in the lineup and not as many people order it. Everyone goes black. The blue and white in person is a different bike.

Same aero frame shape and geometry as the AD9 that XDS-ASTANA races on the WorldTour, in T800 carbon. Shimano 105 Di2, Branta C45 UL carbon wheels with carbon bladed spokes at 1,330g, Michelin Pro 5 tires, and a Branta carbon power meter crankset — dual-sided, measured at the spider.

16.33 lb in a size L. UDH hanger, T47 threaded bottom bracket, UCI approved. Lifetime warranty on the frame, fork and wheels with registration. by @powermetercity

Three parts, one crankset. Built here.

OVERFAST VELA carbon crank arms — 292g on our scale in a 170, 24mm titanium spindle. Because it’s a 24, it drops into a standard Shimano bottom bracket. Six lengths, 160 to 172.5.

The arms use the Easton CINCH interface, which is why this build works. This customer went with a power2max NG — measures at the spider, so both legs, not one leg doubled. ±1% claimed, rechargeable, 150 hours, five year warranty.

Rings are OVERFAST Lightweight 110x4, CNC machined from 7075 aluminum. Bolts included.

They also went white decal on the NG, which picks up the white OVERFAST logo on the arms and the white on the rings. Somebody paid attention. by @powermetercity

All three parts, built as one crankset.

OVERFAST VELA 24mm carbon crank arms, a power2max NG spider, and OVERFAST Lightweight 110x4 chainrings.

The VELA arms are 292g on our scale in a 170, 24mm titanium spindle, Easton CINCH direct mount. The CINCH interface is what makes this build possible — the NG drops right in. $940, dual-sided at the spider, ±1% claimed, rechargeable with 150 hours, 5-year warranty.

Rings are OVERFAST’s own 110x4, CNC’d from 7075 aluminum. 159g for the 50/34, 174g for the 52/36. Bolts included. by @powermetercity

OVERFAST AERION EVO 60 — $3,050

1,050g for a 60mm deep wheelset. Carbon and titanium spokes, 25mm internal, 32.5mm external, hooked rim.

Most 60s this light come from brands charging a lot more. The depth is there for flats and sprints, and you’re not carrying the usual weight penalty to get it.

Shimano HG or SRAM XDR freehub. Center lock, 12x100 front, 12x142 rear. Takes 28 to 50mm tires.

Worth knowing: 100kg rider weight limit, and tubeless tape isn’t installed — you’ll need a roll. by @powermetercity

Shimano now sells the GRX 44 and 46 tooth 1x chainrings on their own. Until now, if you wanted bigger than a 42, you were going aftermarket.

Fits 12-speed GRX cranks — RX820 and RX610. Same 110x4 bolt pattern, so the ring works on either.

Odd detail: the 44 and 46 are $90, but the smaller 40 and 42 are more. The bigger rings cost less.

Worth knowing: a big jump like 40 to 46 may need a longer chain, so check before you ride. Bigger ring also means a harder climbing gear — you’re trading low end for top end. And bolts aren’t included. by @powermetercity

XDS X-LAB GT8, $3,199.

Shimano GRX Di2, carbon wheels, and a dual-sided power meter, all stock. Carbon frame, internal routing, room for real gravel tires.

Price out those three parts on their own and you’re most of the way to $3,199 before you’ve got a frame. Most bikes at this price are mechanical shifting on alloy wheels with no power meter at all.

Two products in, one out. SRAM RED E1 XPLR rear derailleur with a CeramicSpeed X Alpha OSPW, assembled here and ready to bolt on.

The XPLR is the top of SRAM’s gravel line, built for their 13-speed drivetrain. UDH mount, so no limit screws and no hanger to align.

The X Alpha replaces the stock cage with reinforced carbon and runs 14-tooth upper and 20-tooth lower pulleys on ceramic bearings. Bigger pulleys mean the chain bends less — less drag, longer chain life. Quietest drivetrain we’ve had on the bench.

This customer went black. Silver’s available too.

We’re one of the only shops that builds these before they ship, and you save $150 ordering the derailleur and OSPW together. by @powermetercity

Magene PES P515 power meter crankset going onto a SRAM AXS build.

$299, and it measures at the spider — both legs, not one leg doubled. ±1% claimed accuracy, rechargeable, 165 to 175mm crank lengths.

It uses the Shimano 110x4 interface, so rings are your call. This customer went with ROTOR 110x4 Aero chainrings for SRAM AXS in 48/35.

Worth knowing: it’s aluminum at 625g, so it’s heavier than Magene’s carbon TEO. That’s the trade for the price. by @powermetercity

A left-side power meter measures one leg and doubles it. That works perfectly if your legs are perfectly even — and almost nobody’s are.

In this one: how each type actually works, how far off the doubling gets, and the catch nobody mentions when you’re shopping.

Short version — dual-sided is more accurate because it removes an assumption instead of making one. But left-side meters aren’t broken. They’re consistent, and if you’re training against yourself, consistency is what matters most. The error is in your number, not your training.

Worth knowing: measuring both legs doesn’t cost what it used to. There are cranksets around $299 that do it. by @powermetercity

Chainring swap. No talking, just tools.

Old ring off, new ring on, torqued to spec. The whole job is about three minutes if you’ve got the right tools in front of you.

Worth knowing: the one thing people get wrong is the torque spec on the bolts. Easy to get right, annoying to discover you didn’t.

Sound on.
