"A Dead End"

Tayos and Krieger attempt to evade capture by the lemurian horde. Weaving through the ruins of an ancient stronghold, they've managed to get the lemurians off their trail. While immediate relief from the chase has been achieved, they have come across a much greater problem. They have come to a dead end in the maze. With walls too high to scale, they must navigate the numerous passages of this labyrinthian stronghold in order to escape their pursuers.

The men pack their belongings and break down camp. They depart the grove and head towards the scant pathway to the left side of the passage. The path they take brings them high into the crags, with just enough beaten ground for Krieger to be able to easily pull his cart between the rocks. They can see the main road far below, it is still heavily obstructed by overgrowth. Looking down through the canopy as they walk, Tayos can see a few of the sink holes that Krieger was explaining. Peering into the depths of them, he could see a glimpse of aged dry bones littering the bottoms of the pits. They continue for several hours along their path, twisting and turning through the crags until they crest a knoll by a large rock outcropping at the precipice along their path.

"You're in no position to bargain, Barbarian... The price on your head is worth the danger to keep you here, in this hole..."

Bryn has been cornered and captured in a deep pit. His captor, a hybrid mercenary by the name of Ko'Mo, looks down at him from above and taunts him.
"You don't look like much of a bear to me, barbarian. Are you not of their kind? I am beginning to believe that you really are just a powerless weakling barbarian who cannot forge the elements, nor his own flesh..."
Bryn stared up at his captor and growled.
"What you want from me? Hybrid no my enemy, so why you do this?"
Ko'Mo stared down at him and gave a wry smile.
"I want to see the Beast within you, are you not Blooden Kin? You certainly smell like one, but, different. You are not like the others, are you? You're the only one Ive ever seen with golden eyes..."
Bryn stares back at him, a primal fire burning deep inside his chest as his anger builds...

In the Savage Crucible, shifting perspectives can fundamentally alter one’s perception, elevating the vulnerable while diminishing the formidable. For this week’s #SavageCrucibleSaturdays, we are focusing on forced perspective photography, highlighting that visual perception within the Crucible is often deceptive; regardless of the viewpoint, we remain integral components of the Savage Crucible’s Engine.

Every being in the Crucible has the ability to forge great powers, whether it be the elements or their very own flesh. What power lies within is to be discovered by the bearer... Here, Tayos practices his lightning forging, focusing with great intent to unlock the power within...

"Ko'mo, you have strayed from the way of righteousness... We can no longer promise to protect you if you choose to continue down this dark path...."

The Crucible does not suffer loners. It grinds them to dust.
In the shadow of the eternal Engine, iron seeks blood and blood seeks iron. Oaths are forged in the same fire that breaks the weak. Factions rise from the slag and the screams—war-bands of the scarred, iron-bound orders that answer only to the anvil, cults that feed the machine with their own marrow.
This week we turn the gaze upon the banners that still stand. The houses that claim dominion over ash and bone. The alliances that hold… until the next betrayal.
Choose your side. Swear the oath. Or be forgotten beneath the turning gears.
The Engine of the Crucible cares not which banner you bleed under.
Only that you bleed.

"Laying in Wait"

The footsteps of the lemurian patrol were nearing as darkness was falling.

Having laid in wait for several hours, it was near dark. The men watched in silence under the mosses as the lemurian patrol arrived at the crossroads. There were eight of them all together. The troop builds a large fire and sets up their night camp. They gather around it and warm themselves, drinking ale, cooking man chops, resting and recuperating from their long trek eastward. The men sat and watched them for hours, waiting for the proper time to strike.

"They will eat, imbibe and become impaired in short order. When they begin to intermingle and separate, that is when we will strike," Krieger whispered.

Krieger and Tayos have safely made way into the throat of the mountain pass. Their treacherous journey down the coastline of the Forancroft mountains was far more terrifying than they had originally anticipated and they are relieved to be away from the shoreline. Looking forward, there is an ancient established trail that is heavily overgrown. Krieger stops at a small grove he frequently uses and they set a light camp to rest and go over their plans before traversing the mountainous passage.
