lil collage from spring 2026 ☁️🕊️ by @pr1ncelucky

wake up bae, i wrote a new poem. ‘seeds of sycamore’
alt text below 👇🏾
-
seeds of sycamore, shadows cast from virginia sun
steps of my ancestors in sewickley streets

paths converged amongst corn silk
resilience and tragedy in sync
some things aren’t always built to last
memory serves its purpose in past lives
and love passed

born of light and crafted of stone
forged dreams of transition through the eyes of a bird
i heard the tanagers song for a decade and then some

my childhood home held secrets in my mother’s recipe book
held pain between creaking floorboards
love and loss and effort and struggle
in the same breath

when i dream of it, it’s not quite the same
but the morning sun always comes
as if it was a reminder
as if we would begin again by @pr1ncelucky

as long as great melodies linger on 💎

UPDATE: as of 7/24, all posters have been SOLD! with your help we raised $450.55 (not including shipping costs for the out-of-town sweeties). tysm for supporting Lucky and Isha, and tysm for fw my art! i truly did this on a whim, and the response was so encouraging. besitos y abrazitos to U all!

side quest summer is off to a good start! i made these posters that i’m proud of (thanks to @tenderheartpress), and i want to sell them to raise funds for two Black trans people recovering from gender affirming surgery, @pr1ncelucky and @kilimanjarheaux 🦋

“The ecstatic Black lesbian is a threat to the social order” is a quote i penned in a 2024 review of @leilahworld's deliciously time-defying documentary SHAKEDOWN.

posters are $25+, meaning you U can send more than $25 if you’re feeling generous.
please send payment over CashApp ($dvadown) or Zelle (DM for info) with random emojis in the caption.

if you’re local to ATL, there will be some available for purchase on the front porch at @yespleasebooks for the next few weeks!
if you’re outside the city, DM me so we can talk logistics (shipping will cost extra)!

don’t want a poster but still wanna $$$upport Lucky and Isha? peep their info in the slides and don’t be shy!

top surgery goal update post!!! we’re almost at 50%‼️🥲🥹🙂‍↕️👹🫶🏾🫶🏾👏🏾🙏🏾 this is my fave musiq song btw, comment your fav musiq soulchild track or another track from that early 2000s era!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
in just about a month we’ve raised 40% of the goal!
the support has been such a relief as i prepare to be hands off for quite some time.
i had my very first pre-op appointment with the surgeon on 4/30/2026 and it went better than i could’ve imagined i’m so grateful to be able to put my trust into a doctor as a Black trans person. surgery is less than a month out, and i’m hoping to get a big push to get the goal met; so me and my care team will have an easeful and restful recovery!
let’s keep going! don’t forget about the BIRL’S NIGHT OUT benefit for my surgery @ ori gallery, 5/31/2026 from 6-10 p.m.
