As a Practical Minimalist I stopped buying “stuff” — I buy these instead.

I used to bring things home that promised to make life easier
but mostly just made my home fuller.

So I changed what I spend money on.
Instead of decorative clutter and “organizing solutions,”
I invest in experiences that don’t need shelves.

What I buy now instead:
• Ski days and winter passes instead of seasonal décor
• Movie nights and events instead of impulse home items
• Cooking classes instead of another kitchen gadget
• Yoga and gym memberships instead of “motivation buys”
• Zoo and aquarium passes instead of toys that lose interest fast
• Travel, short getaways, and memories instead of more storage bins

The difference?
✨ My home stays lighter
✨ There’s less to clean, organize, and manage
✨ My time is spent living — not maintaining things
✨ My kids remember experiences, not objects
✨ I don’t feel that constant “too much” feeling anymore

This is practical minimalism.
Not about having less joy — about choosing joy that doesn’t turn into clutter.

That shift is a big part of what I teach inside
The Practical Minimalist Reset.
Inside the reset, you’ll learn:
✔️ how to stop buying things that quietly create clutter
✔️ how to shift spending without feeling deprived
✔️ how to create a calm, functional home for real life
✔️ how to maintain less — with more ease
If you’re ready to stop filling your home and start filling your life, check out the Practical Minimalist Reset.

After years of organizing homes, it’s never the size of the house.
It’s never the number of kids.
And it’s definitely not “being messy.”

It’s this

As a practical minimalist, I’ve learned that clutter isn’t about too many things — it’s about too many decisions, too many almost useful items, and too little margin for real life.

Here are 5 real-life signs I notice immediately when a home feels cluttered — even if it looks “clean”:

1️⃣ Every surface has a job
Counters, nightstands, dining tables — nothing is allowed to be empty. When every surface is working overtime, your brain is too.

2️⃣ Storage is full, but nothing is easy to find
Closets packed, drawers stuffed, cabinets full — yet people still say, “I know I have it somewhere.”

3️⃣ Items live where they don’t belong
Shoes in the hallway, bags on chairs, paperwork on the kitchen counter — not because people are lazy, but because there’s no clear home for things.

4️⃣ You clean, but it never feels finished
You tidy every day, but the mess comes back by evening. That’s a system problem, not a motivation problem.

5️⃣ Duplicates everywhere
Two can openers. Three tape measures. Five water bottles. Not abundance — confusion.

Practical minimalism isn’t about having less for the sake of less.
It’s about creating space for real life — for kids, work, rest, mess, joy, and calm.

That’s exactly why I created The Practical Minimalist Reset.
Inside, I walk you step-by-step through:
✔️ how to reduce clutter without overwhelm
✔️ what to let go of (and what to keep)
✔️ how to stop resetting the same spaces over and over
✔️ how to create a home that actually feels lighter — and stays that way
No extremes.
No aesthetic pressure.
Just simple, doable changes that finally make your home feel calm.

Comment “LESS” and I’ll send you my Practical Minimalist home reset.

After years of organizing homes, I noticed this:
most people don’t realize they have too much stuff until their home starts fighting back.

Clutter doesn’t always look messy.

Sometimes it looks “organized” — but feels heavy, stressful, and hard to maintain.

Here are 8 signs your home has too much stuff:
1️⃣ You can’t park your car in the garage anymore
It slowly turned into a storage unit for “temporary” items.
2️⃣ Closet doors don’t close easily
Or they do… but only if you push hard and avoid looking inside.
3️⃣ Drawers get stuck
Too many items competing for the same small space.
4️⃣ You buy duplicates because you can’t find what you already own
Clutter hides things, then creates more clutter.
5️⃣ Cleaning feels exhausting instead of simple
Not because you’re lazy — but because there’s too much to move around.
6️⃣ You’re constantly reorganizing, but nothing stays organized
That’s a sign the problem isn’t systems — it’s volume.
7️⃣ Flat surfaces are never clear
Counters, tables, chairs quietly become storage.
8️⃣ Your home feels overwhelming even when it’s “tidy”
Visual clutter creates mental clutter.
Practical minimalism isn’t about having an empty home.
It’s about having a home that supports your real life — especially as a busy, working mom.

Less stuff means fewer decisions.
Simpler systems.
More peace.

Comment “Less” and I’ll send you my Practical Minimalist home reset.

Your brain never stops processing your surroundings.

When your home is cluttered, your brain is constantly noticing the dishes in the sink, the pile of laundry, the unopened mail, the toys on the floor, and the closet you’ve been meaning to organize.

Even when you’re trying to relax, your brain keeps those unfinished tasks running quietly in the background.

That’s why you can feel tired, overwhelmed, or anxious before you’ve even started your day.

Now imagine the opposite.

You walk into a clean, decluttered home.

The counters are clear.
Everything has a place.
You can find your keys in seconds.

Dinner feels easier to make. You sit down with your family instead of spending the evening searching, cleaning, or stressing.

A tidy home doesn’t make life perfect, but it gives your brain fewer distractions, fewer decisions, and more space to focus on what really matters.

The goal isn’t a picture-perfect house. The goal is creating a home that gives you peace instead of pressure.

Practical minimalism isn’t about having less for the sake of less.
It’s about creating space for real life — for kids, work, rest, mess, joy, and calm.

That’s exactly why I created The Practical Minimalist Reset.

Cleaning isn’t just about having a tidy home—it’s one of the best forms of stress relief.

Every drawer you organize, every surface you clear, and every item you put away gives your brain one less thing to process.

A cluttered home often creates mental noise.

A clean, organized home creates calm, clarity, and peace.

You don’t need to clean the whole house today. Start with one drawer, one shelf, or one countertop. Small wins add up, and so does the feeling of calm.

Ever noticed how everything feels harder when your home is a mess?

You walk into the kitchen and the sink is full of dishes. Suddenly, you don’t even feel like cooking.

You sit down to relax, but the pile of laundry keeps catching your eye.

You waste 15 minutes looking for your keys, your charger, or that one document you know you had.

Your kids can’t find their school things, and everyone starts the morning stressed.

It’s not just the clutter. It’s the mental load that comes with it.

Cleaning and organizing won’t solve every problem in life, but they remove hundreds of tiny daily frustrations that quietly drain your energy.
A clean home means:
✨ Less time searching.
✨ Less visual stress.
✨ Easier cleaning.
✨ More time with your family.
✨ A calmer, more organized mind.

You don’t need a bigger house.
You probably need less stuff.

We often think the answer is more storage bins, bigger closets, or more shelves.
But the truth?

Most homes don’t feel overwhelming because they’re too small. They feel overwhelming because they’re holding years of things we no longer use, need, or even remember.

I’ve been there.
Downsizing taught me that decluttering isn’t about creating a picture-perfect home.
It’s about making everyday life easier.

Less cleaning.
Less stress.
Less time looking for things.

More peace.
And here’s the good news. You don’t have to declutter your whole house this weekend.

Start with one drawer.
One shelf.
One cupboard.
One simple decision.

Small steps create a clutter-free home.

If you’re ready to stop feeling overwhelmed but don’t know where to begin, my Practical Minimalist Reset Guide gives you a simple, room-by-room plan with realistic strategies that actually work for busy families.

People think Practical minimalism is about owning less. It’s not. It’s about living more.

This week as a Practical Minimalist, I:

✔️ Wore the same outfit multiple times without thinking twice.
✔️ Repaired something instead of replacing it.
✔️ Walked out of stores empty-handed (more than once!).
✔️ Finished the food I already had before grocery shopping.
✔️ Chose a 20,000-step evening walk over scrolling and online shopping.

None of this felt like sacrifice.
It felt like freedom.
A calmer home.
A clearer mind.
More money staying in my pocket.
More time spent living instead of consuming.

That’s what practical minimalism is really about—not deprivation, but making space for what truly matters.

If you’re tired of the constant cycle of buying, organizing, and repeating it all over again, my Practical Minimalist Reset Guide will help you break that cycle with simple, realistic steps that actually fit busy life.
✨ Less clutter.
✨ Less overwhelm.
✨ More freedom

A home that feels clean isn’t usually the one that’s cleaned the hardest.

It’s the one with simple habits.

As a working mom of three, I’ve learned that keeping a home tidy has very little to do with perfection—and everything to do with creating routines that are easy to stick to.

Here are my 20 practical minimalist habits that make the biggest difference:

✔️ Do a 10-minute tidy every day.
✔️ Stay on top of laundry by doing little and often.
✔️ Clean as you cook.
✔️ Put everything back where it belongs.
✔️ Reset the living room before bed.
✔️ Wipe the sink after every use.
✔️ Clean one small thing while the kettle boils.
✔️ Open the windows while you clean.
✔️ Fold laundry as soon as it’s dry.
✔️ Keep a basket for random items that need to be put away.
✔️ Keep a small cleaning caddy on each floor.
✔️ Keep surfaces as clutter-free as possible.
✔️ Declutter one drawer at a time.
✔️ Let go of “just in case” items.
✔️ Keep your cleaning routine simple.
✔️ Make your bed every morning.
✔️ Do a Sunday reset.
✔️ Clean little and often instead of saving it all for one day.
✔️ Give everything a proper home.
✔️ Aim for clean and comfortable—not perfect.

The biggest secret?
Cleaning gets so much easier when you own less. Less stuff means less to move, organize, dust, and manage.

If you’re ready to simplify your home but don’t know where to start, my Practical Minimalist Reset Guide will walk you through the entire process, one step at a time. It’s practical, realistic, and designed for busy people who want a calmer home without becoming extreme minimalists.

9 Decluttering Rules That Changed my life forever.

Stuff isn’t just physical.
It takes up mental space, creates noise, and adds stress you don’t even realize you’re carrying.

These are the rules that changed everything for me. They might help you too.

1. Decluttering Is a Process
There is no finish line. Especially with kids.
I stopped aiming for “perfect” and built a simple rhythm instead. Monthly resets beat one big burnout clean-out.

2. The One-Touch Rule
If I pick something up, I put it away completely.
Not on the counter. Not on a chair. All the way.
 Small rule. Big difference.

3. The Real Latte Factor
The biggest money drain isn’t coffee.
It’s the unused furniture, clothes worn once, and random stuff quietly sitting on shelves.

4. The Favorite Rule
I don’t buy anything unless it’s going to be my favorite.
Fewer things. Better things. Less regret.

5. Cost-Per-Use Thinking
Cheap upfront often costs more long-term.
One solid item used daily beats five “deals” that break or sit unused.

6. The One-Shelf Rule
I can only own what fits in the space I’ve assigned.
If it doesn’t fit, something else has to go.
No expanding storage to justify more stuff.

7. The Suitcase Rule
If I had to pack my life into a bag, what would I take?
 Everything else gets questioned hard.

8. The Invisible Rule
If I forgot I owned it, I don’t need it.
 No guilt. No overthinking.

9. Declutter the Debt
If I can’t afford it without stress, I don’t own it.
Debt adds clutter you can’t see — but feel every day.

Comment “Less” if you’re ready to simplify and you will receive a link to Practical Minimalist home reset to simplify your home.

Most people think decluttering starts with getting rid of things. It doesn’t.

It starts with changing what comes into your home.

Because if new items keep entering faster than old ones leave, you’ll feel like you’re decluttering forever.

I’ve seen it happen over and over:
• You spend an entire weekend organizing a closet, then come home with a few “good deals” and it’s full again.
• You clear the kitchen counters, but promotional mugs, free samples, and impulse purchases slowly take over the space.
• You declutter your kids’ toys, only to have birthdays, holidays, and random shopping trips bring in even more.

The problem isn’t always what you own.

The problem is the flow of things into your home.

Before I decluttered a single drawer, I learned to pause before buying, stop bringing home things “just in case,” and become more intentional about what deserved space in my home.

That’s when decluttering became easier.
Less coming in.
Less to manage.
Less to organize.
Less stress.
If your home feels cluttered no matter how much you tidy, start by looking at what enters your home every week.
That one change can make a bigger difference than any organizing hack.

And if you’re ready for a practical step-by-step plan, my Decluttering Guide will show you exactly how to simplify your home without feeling overwhelmed.

Inside my Guide I walk you step-by-step through:
✔️ how to reduce clutter without overwhelm
✔️ what to let go of (and what to keep)
✔️ how to stop resetting the same spaces over and over
✔️ how to create a home that actually feels lighter — and stays that way
No extremes.
No aesthetic pressure.
Just simple, doable changes that finally make your home feel calm.

We live in cluttered homes because of these 2 things...

• We keep too much.
• We let too much in.

It sounds simple, but this is the cycle that keeps many homes feeling overwhelming.

We keep clothes that no longer fit “just in case.”
We keep kitchen gadgets we haven’t touched in years.
We keep boxes of random items because getting rid of them feels harder than storing them.

At the same time, we continue bringing more things home.
A quick trip to the store turns into a new candle, another water bottle, a basket, or a decoration we didn’t plan to buy.
Online shopping makes it even easier. A small purchase here, a sale there, and suddenly the house feels full again.

The solution isn’t a massive weekend decluttering marathon.

Start with these simple steps:
• Remove one bag of items you no longer use each week.
• Create a 24-hour pause before non-essential purchases.
• Follow the “one in, one out” rule whenever possible.
• Focus on keeping what serves your current life, not a future version of yourself.
A clutter-free home isn’t created by organizing more stuff.
It’s created by owning less and being more intentional about what comes in.
If you’re ready for practical, realistic steps to simplify your home without becoming a minimalist extremist, my guide can help you get started.

Inside, I walk you step-by-step through:
✔️ how to reduce clutter without overwhelm

After years of organizing homes, I know there are 10 things you should never store in your bedroom.

❌ Piles of paperwork
❌ Unopened mail
❌ Donation items waiting for months
❌ Overflow storage from other rooms
❌ Broken items you plan to fix someday
❌ Excess exercise equipment
❌ Children’s toys
❌ Seasonal décor you aren’t using
❌ Laundry that never gets put away
❌ Anything that doesn’t support rest, relaxation, or your daily routine.

As a Practical Minimalist, I want to remind you that your bedroom should feel like a retreat—not a storage unit.

Every item in your bedroom sends a message to your brain.
Paperwork reminds you of tasks.
Donation bags remind you of unfinished decisions. Overflow storage reminds you of clutter hiding elsewhere in your home.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is to create a space that helps you rest, recharge, and start your day with less stress and more clarity.
Which of these is currently taking up space in your bedroom?

If you’re ready to simplify your home in a practical, realistic way, my Practical Minimalist Guide will help you declutter with purpose and create spaces that truly support your life.
