Latinx Heritage Month programming continues next week with a Lunch & Learn with Alma Ruth + Practice Mercy Foundation!

IMPORTANT LIFE UPDATE

My dear friends:

It has been an extremely hard year for many of us.

Especially for women led ministries.

We are committed to continue serving in a very difficult and challenging ministry context along the Mexico Border, specifically in the Rio Grande Valley.

Last week was one of the heaviest for us as a ministry with @practicemercy Foundation and our missionary family.

1. We lost our main and only donor in Texas for @practicemercy

I cried.

2. My reliable Toyota RAV4 2018 broke down unexpectedly a few minutes from the dealership.

As I went back, they realized an expensive, out of our budget repair was needed.

I had to stop.
Pray.
Think.
Breath.
Pray again.

I have no family in town or in the States for that matter.

I drive internationally into Mexico (Monterrey/Reynosa) for:
. ministry work with clergy, faith leaders and academics
. medical appointments for ministry with asylum seekers and for our family

I cannot afford not to be safe.

I have enough to worry about safety already.

3. God in his mercy, allowed me to trade in my vehicle (almost 100,000 miles).

4. Would you please PRAY for us for:
. Provision
. Protection
. Wisdom
. Discernment
To always listen and obey the voice of the Lord in our lives.

Thanks be to God for his tools to do his work!

Bottom line:
God is good.
God is merciful.
God is always with us.

Our time in our first gathering with the @j29coalition 2026 Cohort has come to an end.

What an extraordinary time of learning and fellowship through the Equal Justice Initiative

We spent time learning at the @legacymuseum From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration

We stayed at the perfect @elevationhotel which is a full experience in itself!

We have had our first full day today for our @j29coalition 2026 Leadership Cohort at the @legacysites

Life changing.

Every person living in the United States should visit it.

I was able to spend time in Mexico with my friend and ministry partner Rev. Anyra @anyra_c during our Retreat for Border Ministry Partners with @wearefaithworks

Anyra and I providentially met on Facebook several years ago.

She graciously accepted my invitation to come to the Border with @stephenkreeves Stephen Reeves and Cameron Mason Vickrey and meet some of the beautiful people we served at the time in the migrant camps in Reynosa.

Their support has been given holistically and relationally, just as we serve with @practicemercy Foundation

Their friendship is very valuable for our ministry and my life.

We give thanks to God for their service in God’s kingdom! by @practicemercy

Today I finished a beautiful time of fellowship with my good friends and ministry partners of @wearefaithworks

My friend @stephenkreeves Stephen Reeves has made a huge difference in my life and ministry work with @practicemercy Foundation. His lovely wife Deborah was with us as well.

I am deeply thankful for him and how he leads FaithWorks.

They invited every one of their ministry partners to come to Mexico 🇲🇽 for a special
Gathering.

As you may know, on Thursday, July 23, at the McAllen International Airport, two Pastors were detained by Border Patrol federal agents.

Even though they have their valid Religious Visa (R1), it seems the agents were not familiar with it, causing their detention.

Pastors Zozaya were on their way to a Marriage Retreat invited by the @bgea Billy Graham Evangelistic Association when this happened at 4 am.

We give thanks to God for causing an unprecedented mobilization in our faith community in the #RioGrandeValley and at a national level.

Multiple ministries, churches and organizations did everything humanly possible to appeal for their release.

Among many others gathered their connections and resources on their behalf.

Pastors Zozaya are loved by God and their community internationally.

The Lord in his mercy heard our prayers.

My good friend @angeeljordan contacted me promptly and we started praying for them and with them.

Today, I witnessed a beautiful Thanksgiving Service led by the very Pastors Zozaya, sharing their story and giving thanks to God for their release.

It was an exuberant worship service!

Afterwards, my friend @itsovalle Sandy Ovalle gave a Press Conference informing the public about their case.

As Pastor Nephtali Zozaya was praying for the people who were left in detention, everyone in the room felt his heartfelt prayers.

God is with his immigrant children.
God loves his immigrant servants.

At the very end of the whole event, God gave me the privilege and the blessing to pray for this beautiful couple who has dedicated their lives for God’s kingdom service.
