Maswadi / Masalavadi

Maswadi is a traditional Maharashtrian dish popular in
Pune and nearby regions, especially during festive occasions. It is made using a spiced gram flour (besan) mixture stuffed with a coconut, sesame seeds, onion, and coriander filling, then rolled, steamed, and cut into bite-sized pieces. The rolls are lightly tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and sesame seeds, giving them a fragrant and savory flavor. Maswadi is often served with tangy amti (spiced curry) or chutney and represents the perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and nutty tastes in Marathi cuisine.
