Four years ago today, my Mother went to heaven.

Today, in Amsterdam, I bought a book about Anne Frank in her memory. Anne’s story was one of my Mother’s favourites, and hers was one of the first books my Mother gave me to read.

My Mother introduced me to Anne’s courage, her concern for others even while she faced danger herself, and the power of a young person’s voice. Being in the city where Anne wrote her diary brought those memories of my Mother close again.

I bought this book to share with my boys. One day, I hope to tell them about Anne and about the grandmother who first shared her story with me.
