We had been hoping to catch the Northern Lights properly at some point during the trip, but between the weather, long drives and cloud cover, it was never a given.

Then one night, almost out of nowhere, the sky started changing. What began as a faint glow turned into one of the strongest displays we saw the entire trip, with green and purple moving right across the sky.

We ended up staying outside far longer than planned, just watching it unfold.

There are places that impress you, and then there are places that quietly stay with you long after you’ve left.

The Azores was one of those places.

Every winding road seemed to reveal another crater lake, another dramatic coastline, another view that made us pull over simply to take it all in. The landscapes felt untouched, almost as if nature had been allowed to create without interruption.

What surprised me just as much was the simplicity of everything else.

The sweetest pineapple I’ve ever tasted.
The freshest cheese I’ve ever had.
Meals built from ingredients that barely had to travel before reaching the table.

And then there were the people. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely proud of the islands they call home. Their love for the Azores was contagious.

It’s difficult to describe this place because photographs only capture the scenery. They don’t capture the scent of the hydrangeas lining the roads, the salty Atlantic breeze, the sound of waves crashing against volcanic cliffs, or the feeling of standing somewhere that still feels wonderfully authentic.

Some destinations are about checking a box.

The Azores reminded me that the best journeys aren’t about seeing more places. They’re about finding places that make you slow down enough to truly taken in Ilhéu de Vila Franca by @prateekswc

Madeira feels like another world. Ancient levadas winding through lush green valleys, cliffs that rise straight into the clouds, and waterfalls that appear when you least expect them. Every hike feels alive with colour, mist, and sound. A place where nature speaks softly but powerfully, and every frame feels like a dream. by @prateekswc

This was truly a feeling of sensory overload watching these reptiles in the flesh. I burned through hundreds of images with so much disappointment as I could control my camera, but not the elements. No flash (not allowed), constant light that was not constant at times to managing shutter speed at night time was no easy feat.
I came back, very inspired and ready to learn about wildlife 📸
