POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hello, we're Prattle & Prose! Best friends from college, we love books and reviewing them.

We realized we both have different baselines when it comes to reviews with Valerie starting at 5 stars and Kaitlynn starting at 3. We thought it would be fun to share our reviews with you!

Please add us for honest reviews! Our next will be books we got at Apollycon this year!

We were so lucky to attend and meet some of our favorite authors like Rebecca Yarros, J. R. Ward, Brynne Weaver, and Danielle L. Jensen! We hope we can go again next year! #apollycon #rebeccayarros #jrward #bookstagram #bookish taken in Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center by @prattle_and_prose

We read The Poison Daughter by @sheilareadsandwrites for @wonderlandbookstagram this October.

It. Was. AMAZING. One of my top reads this year. I'm going to have a hard time picking a favorite book of this year. What a first world problem.... So happy we got to meet Sheila in person last month AND i got lucky snagging this @waterstones exclusive edition. One of the prettiest books on my shelves! #bookreview #bookish #booksta #thepoisondaughter #sheilamasterson by @prattle_and_prose

There is a new romance bookstore in the lineup, @bmoreromantic. Downtown Baltimore's first romance bookstore! Maryland is POPPING AWF with all these new bookstores. It's a great year to be a reader.

I loved the aesthetic here. It had a vintage vibe that the owner really embraced. I love when a store can be so uniquely local, you can't find that vibe literally anywhere else. The selection here was FANTASTIC and you know they repped Baltimore's local romance queen, @authorbkborison!

Another fantastic day spent with old&new friends and books! 🤗🩷💋 #bookevent #indiebookstores #romancebooks #bookstagram #bookish taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @prattle_and_prose

Omg you guys, we had so much fun last night at @parkbooksmd pickup event for @jasminemasbooks newest release, The Emperor's Enemy. The standee and art for this book is so amazing!!

We had so much fun making our own tote bags and making friends. Park Books even made us mocktails that were so delish 🍸 And I cannot BELIEVE that @dorkurz won the raffle of the night. She MANIFESTED that 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you SO MUCH for such a great event @parkbooksmd and @readmirabooks !! 🗣️ I LOVE BOOK EVENTS 🗣️

Omg y'all last night was a blast. Me and @dorkurz were at the launch event of Grim Tidings by @authorbkborison with @authorlylasage!! These two together were HILARIOUS. I love them! @charmcitybooks put in an AH-MAY-ZING event!

I also got to meet up with a few Maryland book ladies last night including @reademwithceelim who was dressed just like the new FMC of Longtime Listener ❤️🎧

Can't wait for BK and Layla's new books coming out next year! #bookevent #bookish #booksta #bookstagram #avonbooks taken in Baltimore, Maryland by @prattle_and_prose

BOOK REVIEW

💫The Stars DID NOT ALIGN💫

🐦‍⬛ Shield of Sparrows & Rites of the Starling 🐦‍⬛ by Devney Perry

Valerie's Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kaitlynn's Rating: ⭐⭐

I LOVED this series. It felt like the Monster Hunter video game by CAPCOM mixed with romantasy. SO FUN. I also loved the world building in this book. The descriptions of the places made me want to live there.

Kaitlynn though this was so boring it almost put her in a book slump. Oops. Too bad it was the Romantasy Book Club book of the month and she had to read it!!

BOOK REVIEW
🐺 DIRE BOUND & FURY BOUND🐺

Look, if you ever wanted to read Fourth Wing but thought, "You know what this needs? More wolves and a little less explanation," boy do I have a duology for you. 🐺✨

DIRE BOUND ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A very familiar copy-paste vibe, but honestly? Still a fun time. Meryn spends a good chunk of the book fighting her alpha bond, only to suddenly accept being an alpha AND a queen by the end. The main issue is that characters drop like flies purely for shock value, and Meryn moves on so fast it barely leaves a dent in the story.

FURY BOUND ⭐⭐⭐
An absolute slog that easily could have lost 200 pages. All of Meryn’s sudden royal ascension and decision-making still felt pretty unearned, and the consequence-free shock deaths made a comeback.

Did I still somehow have fun reading it? Yes. Do I completely understand why? Also yes, but maybe don't look too closely at the plot holes. Loved the new characters though but they'll probably die.

The Poison Daughter is here!!! We went and saw @sheilareadsandwrites at @bnfairfax last night and we had so much fun! The talk was an amazing introspective on the book and future works. Best quote of the night = "Did I just do a Catholic?" 😭😭😭

A special guest was @gretchenwritesbooks It was such a special treat! I just finished her second book in her trilogy and waiting for the last like my life depends on it. #bookishevents #bookstagram #booksta #bookish #bookishlife

Omg we had so much fun at the 2026 National Book Festival hosted by @librarycongress yesterday! So many readers in one place! We met Sabaa Tahir, Sunyi Dean, Amal El-Mohtar, Hannah Whitten, Chloe Gong, Alex Aster, Tia Williams, I. V. Marie and Roshani Chokshi!! It was so amazing to be able to speak to each author.

Each state was represented in this year's Book Festival! They each had their own selected works at the book store AND booths in the exhibition hall! There was also a stamp hunt which was so fun!

We all had a lot of fun at this year's book event. Can't wait to go back next year! by @prattle_and_prose
