Just Look at You

Standing there, amidst the storm of life... a lot has tried to bend you, break you, shatter your spirit, but here you are; steadfast, unyielding, like an oak rooted deep into the earth, its branches swaying but never snapping under the fiercest of winds.

The road behind you is littered with battles fought. Some were won, others left scars that run deep. But those scars, they are not your shame. They are your testament. Like badges of honour pinned upon a soldierโ€™s chest, each one tells a story of courage, of never giving up when the odds were against you.

Youโ€™ve faced moments when giving up felt like the easiest option, but deep within your soul, something stronger stirred... God-given strength, holding you up when you thought you couldnโ€™t take another step.

And how often have you doubted yourself? But just look at you. Youโ€™ve gone further than you ever thought possible. Youโ€™ve stretched beyond what you once believed were your limits, time and time again.

Thereโ€™s something unbreakable within you. Something woven into the fabric of your being from the moment you took your first breath. Itโ€™s not something that can be taken away, not by failure, not by rejection, not by any amount of disappointment. It is your identity, given to you by God, the Divine One. You are not here by accident, and your journey is not without purpose. Every step youโ€™ve taken, every stumble, every triumph, is part of a greater plan, unfolding in its time.

And even though youโ€™ve walked through valleys of doubt and despair, youโ€™ve never truly been alone. There is a presence, the presence of God, His grace, that has walked beside you, whispering in the quiet of your heart, reminding you of who you truly are.

So, just look at you.

You are a flame that refuses to be extinguished, a light that shines even in the darkest moments. You are strong!

So, when the doubts creep in, when the world feels like itโ€™s closing in around you, just pause for a moment. Look in the mirror. See the person standing before you. See the strength in your eyes, the unspoken story written in every breath you take. See the person God is moulding you into.

Communication in our contemporary world is not optional, it is essential.

Lately, a phrase keeps echoing in my mind: โ€œNobody is coming to save you.โ€
It sounds harsh at first, but it carries a wake-up truth. If you hide your voice, if you bottle up your thoughts, if you keep assuming that people will โ€œjust understandโ€ without you saying a word, youโ€™ll often be left misunderstood, overlooked, or even frustrated.

Hereโ€™s something Iโ€™ve learnt: being an introvert wonโ€™t shield you. Silence is not always the safe space we think it is. Yes, it can feel comforting to withdraw into yourself, to choose quiet over confrontation, but life requires more than silence.

Communication is not about being loud. Itโ€™s not about dominating a room or saying too many words. Itโ€™s about clarity. Itโ€™s about expressing yourself authentically. Itโ€™s about giving your thoughts and feelings a voice so they donโ€™t remain buried inside you.

When you donโ€™t communicate, you give people room to create their own narratives about you. And the danger is, they may get it wrong. Not because theyโ€™re malicious, but because you didnโ€™t supply the truth yourself.

For some of us, learning how to communicate will be a process. It wonโ€™t come overnight. You may stutter through your first attempt, or replay conversations in your head after theyโ€™re over. But thatโ€™s not failure, thatโ€™s growth in motion.

This isnโ€™t to say silence has no value. Solitude and quiet reflection are gifts. But like DDK says, โ€œYou can be more quiet than your destiny requires.โ€ And if your purpose demands that your voice be heard, staying silent when you should speak is not humility, it is self-sabotage.

I am not just writing this for you. I am writing it for me too. Because Iโ€™ve been guilty of retreating into silence, of hoping people will just โ€œknow what I mean,โ€ of letting opportunities slip because I refused to articulate myself. And every time, Iโ€™ve had to remind myself that communication is not a luxury; itโ€™s a lifeline.

So, hereโ€™s the truth: if you want to grow, build relationships, excel in your workplace, or even nurture your purpose, you must master communication.

Cheers to Growth. โฃ๏ธ๐ŸŒน

โ€œThe Manful.โ€
Not just a book. A call.
A stirring for men to rise healed, whole, and true.
This is for the fathers, sons, brothers, and men-in-the-making.
The silence of men has lasted too long, itโ€™s time for wholeness to speak.

When the idea of this book dropped, I thought it would be about the inner child, the wounds we carry into adulthood, the healing we long for, and the parts of us still waiting to be seen.

But as I began to write, I realised something.

Before there is an inner child to heal, there is first a child to nurture.

As younger children, many of us may not fully understand rejection, identity, purpose or self-worth in deep ways. Yet, every word spoken, every opportunity given or withheld, every comparison, every dismissal, every encouragement and every expression of love quietly shapes the person we are becoming.

Childhood is where seeds are planted.
Some grow into confidence.๏ฟฝSome grow into fear.๏ฟฝSome grow into courage.๏ฟฝSome grow into silence.

That is why Give Expression to That Child is not just a book for adults looking back. It is also a book for parents, teachers, mentors, caregivers, teenagers and young adults who still have the opportunity to protect, nurture and affirm the light in a child before unnecessary wounds are formed.

Healing is beautiful.

However, there is also something beautiful about raising children who will have fewer wounds to heal because someone gave expression to the light within them.

That is the heart behind this book.

"Healing is beautiful, But giving expression before healing becomes necessary is even more powerful."

You definitely don't want to miss it! ๐Ÿฅน

Some of us believe that some things are better left unsaid, while for others, it must be said because it's been kept hidden for too long.

Because there are so many people hiding their light,
Many people questioning their existence and crying out for answers,
Many confused teenagers pushing through but needs clarity...
Many young adult still struggling with identity, healing and authentic expression.

If we all stand as one, because we want to change the narrative; we'll achieve so much.

I was that child too quick to say "yes."

"Can you help?" Yes.

"Can you do this for me?" Yes.

"Can you stay a little longer?" Yes.

I genuinely loved helping people. I still do.

But there came a point when I realised something painful: sometimes, the people you care so deeply about may not care for you with the same intentionality.

This is not a call to stop loving people!!

I believe in love.
I believe in compassion.
I believe in showing up for others.

But when you continually ignore your own needs in the name of helping everyone else, you eventually begin to wear out.

Not because doing good is wrong...

...but because you've been doing too much without boundaries.

Without allowing others to pour into you.

Without loving yourself enough to step back and rest.

Many people around me enjoyed the version of me that was always available.

Few noticed that I was slowly becoming exhausted.

I still struggle to say 'No' at times, but, for everytime I had said No to things that took my energy, I am proud of myself.

That is why one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is the permission to say "no."

To set healthy boundaries.

To decline some requests.

Not out of selfishness or wickedness, but because you understand that you, too, deserve to be cared for.

Sometimes, giving expression to the child within you means giving yourself permission to choose yourself too.

That is one of the reasons I wrote Give Expression to That Child.

Before children grow into adults who believe they must earn love by constantly pleasing others, they need permission to know this:

Your voice matters.
Your needs matter.
And "no" is a complete sentence.

One of the problems today is that we are slowly beginning to lose the essence of our being and we don't care about it.

We chase after a number of things.
Jobs...

Validation...

Certifications...

Titles...

All good, beautiful and lovely to be admired.

But, one question is left unanswered...
Am I not more than this??

How much of what God has invested in you will end up in the graveyard?

How much of the criticisms or the pain will you pay attention to?

The book "Give Expression to That Child" was written to answer to that dilemma.

One day, your inner child will cry for expression because it was made for manifestation, not suppression.

Every child is listening.
The question is...
Who are they listening to?

The words children hear repeatedly eventually become the words they tell themselves.

Let's choose our words carefully.

"Most of what you call personality is a trauma response."

Yes, read that again, slowly and carefully.

I first heard the statement above from Mr. Ayodele Solomon at TIBA AWARDS & CONFERENCE 2025.

.......
That child who's quiet and isolated from people does not necessarily likes being away from people, but could feel like being away gives the peace and security he or she needs.

This brings me to another statement which was made during the first panel session:
"You have what it takes within you to disrupt yourself."

Not because it will be easy, but because you cannot stick to the version of you that will limit you.

For me, it's choosing to live fully, learning and unlearning because after all, beyond the personality, it's becoming who God wants us to become that really matters and every baggages must be done away with.

The greatest gift you can give a child is not just protection or provision. It is permission to be, to grow, to speak, to try, to feel, and to express.

I want to scream that so badly.

When growing up, there was something I always did to my younger sister. I'd almost immediately correct whatever she does, especially in the kitchen.

No, Wash the plates like this...
Clean the floor this way...
Arrange the chairs this way...

It wasn't intentional.
I am a perfectionist.
I just had to find a way not to take things so serious anymore. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I had to intentionally start leaving her to do her own things and appreciate the beauty of it. I mean that girl is sooo good. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have had to talk about this at a time and I realized those actions restricted her in a way.

That's why this book is written to four audiences. It's not because I couldn't settle for an audience but because the message is intertwined.

As a parent, an elderly one, a guidance or caregiver, why not give your children permission to try?
Permission to express themselves?

They have a world of thought of their own and shutting them out will not replace those thoughts.

My desire is that when this book is officially out, you will get a copy and read it.

You might not agree with all that's written therein but there's a message for you.

The image below is an excerpt from the book.

THE LIGHT YOU WERE BORN TO EXPRESS

There's a question I have wrestled with for many years:

Can we truly become all that we were created to be?

You don't need to teach me how to wear a mask before I begin to cover up.

Somehow, it seems ingrained. It feels almost inbuilt.

Little by little, we begin to hide beneath expectations, comparison, criticism and the weight of other people's opinions.

This thought has always troubled me, especially when I think about children.

What happens when, from a very young age, a child begins to live under the shadow of someone else's performance?

What happens when they begin to believe they must become someone else to be accepted?

Over time, such a child may grow into an adult who no longer knows who they truly are.

Yet, I believe something different.

I believe every one of us was created with a unique light to express.

Yes, we have teachers. We have mentors. We have role models.

But none of them was created to replace who God created us to be.

As the Scriptures remind us, "In Him we live and move and have our being." (Acts 17:28)

Our identity is first found in Him.

That question became too important for me to ignore.

It eventually became the reason I wrote "Give Expression to That Child: The Light You Were Born to Express."

Today marks Day 1 of our 20 Days to Giving Expression, and I'm inviting you to journey with me.

This is not only about the unveiling of a book...

It is an invitation intoa conversation that I believe every child, teenager, young adult and parent needs to have.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Let me ask you:

Have you ever felt that you were becoming the person everyone expected, instead of the person you were created to be?

I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

This is to 20 days of Giving Expression ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅโœจ
