When I was young, I used to think that doing your best means a gold medal. That when you do something right, you get something good in return or atleast a 'job well done'. But me doing 10 years three times into this world and I learned how that's just a fantasy. How sometimes, going above and beyond doesn't even give you a cookie or a pat in the back. That loving with all your heart doesn't even guarantee you won't lay in bed alone at night, drowning in your own thoughts.

Truth is, I don't know what the stars wrote for me and I'm tired of comparing my life with others'. All I know is that I know better now and I'll carry on without so much expectations. Forget gold medals. My only hope is when the time is right, all my hardwork pays off and all the love I gave out to this universe somehow find their way back to me.

The New Year does not arrive to erase what came before it. It arrives to stand beside it. The New Year reminds us that starting again does not mean forgetting, it means learning how to walk forward without denying what shaped us.

Some will greet this season with excitement. Others will greet it with caution or fatigue. Both are wise. A beginning does not require enthusiasm; it requires willingness. Even the smallest act of care, repeated, is enough to change the shape of a life over time.

May this New Year meet you where you are, not where you think you should be. May your beginnings be gentle, your expectations realistic, and your progress patient. And may whatever you start grow not from pressure, but from truth. by @preciouschidi94
