‎Maybe I would really have amounted to nothing without them.
‎
‎I had a little chitchat with Mum and she made me realise today is Teachers’ Day. Forgive me for not knowing, it’s been a while since I left primary and secondary school.
‎
‎To all my teachers, especially the ones who were fond of beating me because I was really a stubborn pupil. I only cared about break time and closing time. And me and food that time ehh… Chai. They really tried.
‎
‎But honestly, looking back, I’m grateful.
‎
‎God bless all the teachers who never gave up on me. I’m proud to say that the Precious Udoh I am today is partly because of what they invested in me.
‎
‎To all my mentors, I appreciate you. I won’t mention names because I might forget someone, but believe me when I say this girl is grateful.
‎
‎And to my first teachers, my parents…
‎
‎Daalu oo. Sonsongo. Eshe. Merci. Narekele.
‎
‎Thank you for everything you poured into this girl. I really would not be here without you all.
‎
‎And to the ones I will meet soon, God bless you too.
‎
‎Your efforts never went to waste.

It’s officially one year since I became intentional about my growth.

By this time last year, I wasn’t even sure I would make it this far. But nevertheless, I had the biggest backing: God.

I call Him my babe because He has been with me through every step I’ve taken.

The stages I’ve climbed.
The mics I’ve held.
The lives I’ve impacted.
The conferences I’ve attended.
The events I’ve moderated, both impromptu and prepared.

Looking back, I can only say I am grateful.

Grateful to God, and grateful to everyone who, in one way or another, has contributed to the person I am becoming. To those who opened doors, gave me opportunities, believed in me, encouraged me, corrected me, supported me, or simply showed up when it mattered, God bless you.

One year ago, I was only intentional about becoming better.

Today, I can see the evidence.

And trust me, the next year will be even better.

This is just the beginning.

Dear ladies, a husband is not a poverty alleviation program. Before you get offended, hear me out.

A man is not your way out of poverty. Know this and know peace.

I've heard some ladies say, "If he's not rich, I won't marry him."

Sister, what happens if you're rich too?

Why have we made it seem like the man's job is to come into our lives and solve every financial problem we have?

Build yourself too. Learn a skill. Start something. Have your own dreams and work towards them.

No man wants to feel like the only reason he's loved is because of what he can provide. Even men appreciate women who can hold their own and support the home when necessary.

Marriage isn't about one person carrying all the weight while the other watches. It's about two people building a life together.

So yes, pray for a good man. But while you're praying, become a good woman who is also building her own life.

Let him breathe. by @preciousvincent207

‎Did I die?
‎No.
‎
‎But did I get what I wanted?
‎Yes.
‎
‎So because I'm short, does that automatically mean my future is short too?
‎
‎There is nothing people haven't said to me.
‎
‎"You? You want to see the King? There's no way. You're too short."
‎
‎Some laughed.
‎
‎Some mocked me.
‎
‎Some made me feel like I wasn't enough.
‎
‎But I had already made up my mind. I wasn't going to let what I couldn't change stop me from getting to where I wanted to be.
‎
‎It all happened that on this day, a King was coming into town.
‎
‎The whole city came out to see Him, and I knew I had to see Him too.
‎
‎"But you're too short," they kept saying.
‎
‎"There's no way you'll even catch a glimpse of Him."
‎
‎I looked around and saw a tree.
‎
‎"I sha climb the tree," I told myself.
‎
‎As I started climbing, I heard them laughing.
‎
‎"You'll fall."
‎
‎"You'll break your body."
‎
‎I smiled.
‎
‎In my mind, the worst that could happen was that I would break my body.
‎
‎But what if I didn't?
‎
‎What if I actually got what I came for?
‎
‎So I climbed.
‎
‎And somehow, out of the entire crowd, the King noticed me.
‎
‎Not only did He notice me, He chose to come to my house.
‎
‎Imagine that.
‎
‎Maybe that's the problem with some of us.
‎
‎We spend too much time listening to people who have already decided what our future should look like.
‎
‎We allow one insecurity, one flaw, one weakness, one comment to keep us from chasing what God has placed in our hearts.
‎
‎Stop shrinking because of your imperfections.
‎
‎Turn that imperfection into something beautiful.
‎
‎Your weakness doesn't have to become your excuse.
‎
‎Oh... before I go.
‎
‎This wasn't actually my story.
‎
‎It was the story of Zacchaeus, the short man who climbed a tree just to see Jesus.
‎
‎You can find it in Luke 19:1–10.

‎There was a version of me that genuinely believed nothing good could come out of my life.
‎
‎I used to believe that.
‎
‎People looked down on me, and if I'm being honest, I looked down on myself too.
‎
‎There were days I couldn't see anything ahead of me. I questioned if I would ever become someone people would be proud of.
‎
‎But look at me now.
‎
‎Not because I've arrived, but because I'm becoming.
‎
‎Look at the woman God is building.
‎
‎When I look back, I realize God never saw me the way I saw myself. While I was counting my flaws, He was preparing my future. While I thought I was forgotten, He was still writing my story.
‎
‎That's why I can never believe that anyone has a hopeless future.
‎
‎If you're still breathing, God isn't done with you.
‎
‎Maybe all you need isn't another opportunity. Maybe it's a wake-up call.
‎
‎Wake up to the potential God has placed inside you.
‎
‎Wake up to the person you're capable of becoming.
‎
‎Keep reminding yourself, "If others can make it, I can too."
‎
‎Don't settle for the life fear is offering you when God has called you to so much more.
‎
‎Keep becoming. One day, you'll look back and smile at the person you thought you'd always be.

It all started this way.

Things didn't really go my way, and suddenly life started feeling a lot tougher. You know those moments when you're in desperate need of something, but it just doesn't come? That was where I found myself. Every day seemed harder than the last.

I got to a point where I woke up feeling reluctant to even tell God, "Thank You." I became easily irritated because nothing seemed to be working out the way I wanted.

Then one Saturday, I almost lost my life.

I still don't know exactly how it happened, but somehow I found myself right in front of a moving car. How the driver managed to hit the brakes in time is a miracle I'll never be able to explain.

I cried.

I cried because, in that moment, I realized something. If I had actually lost my life, all the things I had been complaining about wouldn't have mattered anymore. The same me who was frustrated because life wasn't going my way suddenly found myself begging God for just one thing: mercy and another chance to live.

That's when I realized how ungrateful I had become.

Life may look really tough right now, but please remember this: there is hope for the living.

Hold on. Trust God. Things will be okay.

And no matter what season you're in, don't stop giving thanks. Gratitude is easier when everything is going well, but it's even more powerful when life isn't. by @preciousvincent207

And just like that... WAKE UP happened.

My heart is so full.

I don't think I've ever been that scared before. The days leading up to the session were a lot. I barely slept, and yesterday morning, I woke up with a headache, tired eyes, and so many thoughts. For a moment, I honestly wondered if I would be able to do it.

But God came through.

One thing that really touched me was seeing people already waiting before the session started. You showed up on time, ready to learn, and that meant so much to me.

As the session went on, every fear I had slowly disappeared. God took over, and everything came together so beautifully.

To everyone who joined, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for giving yourself the opportunity to grow. I pray yesterday wasn't just another class, but the beginning of something new for you.

To my mentors, thank you. Every correction, every encouragement, every opportunity, and every prayer has shaped me into the person I am becoming. I truly wouldn't have come this far without you.

Yesterday reminded me that when God gives you an assignment, He also gives you the grace to carry it.

Thank You, Jesus. And thank you, everyone.

This is only the beginning. by @preciousvincent207

‎Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at a graduation ceremony, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
‎
‎Speaking is something I genuinely love, and every opportunity reminds me that this is what I was created to do.
‎
‎Was it a perfect speech? No. I made mistakes, and that's okay.
‎
‎I'm learning to embrace the process, receive corrections from those ahead of me, and keep growing. Every correction is shaping me into a better Precious Udoh, and I know I'm getting closer to the speaker I aspire to become.
‎
‎To my mentors, thank you for believing in me, correcting me, and pushing me to be better. It wouldn't have been possible without your guidance. God bless you richly.
‎
‎The journey continues, and I'm excited for all that's ahead.
