this work was created during my study week at the academy in kolbermoor in august with professor markus lüpertz. It came into being between painting two nude paintings. he pointed out to me that he can still recognize the figure study I had in mind while painting it and called it „the yellow nude“ ✨

I painted this work during the Summer Academy in Kolbermoor in august with Professor Markus Lüpertz. He told me it was finished just as it was. I’m so glad I left it that way — it taught me so much about knowing when to stop and trust the work.

i’m interested in the moment when a figure becomes recognizable through only a few brushstrokes. the longer I work on pieces like this, the more I return to the same question: How little is needed for a figure to be present?
