As of yesterday, I have officially joined the 30’s club ✨

Thank you to everyone who has sent love near and far, it truly means more than you know. 🫶🏻

So much has happened in the last year- it started with an immediate family member of mine being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer two months before I was scheduled to take the MCAT.

My family and I’s world quickly transitioned to pure pandemonium.

Long days of studying in-between 12+ hour shifts, on-call requirements, and my responsibilities as a wife and mom transitioned into caring for one of the most special people in my life who was given mere months to live.

I rescheduled my MCAT to the latest possible date and pushed back my entire application cycle a year.

In a twisted turn of events, a month before my rewrite, the spouse of my immediate family member was incidentally diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Within the same time frame, it was discovered that my previous family member had been misdiagnosed, and they actually had stage 4 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(s) (pNET).

So as we had originally prepared for the passing of one, we ended 2025 with the passing of the other.

Within 24 hours of that passing, my husband lost his job as well.

I ended up officially cancelling my MCAT, and spent as much time as possible with, and caring for, my family.

Working in healthcare we all have our reasons for doing what we do to care for others, and what we do to make the world just a little bit better, and a little bit brighter.

I’ve personally spanned the emotional gamut of grief, and I still have really tough days.

However, for every hard moment, I feel like God provides an equally beautiful one. I truly do have so much to be grateful for.

Slowly but surely, I am getting things back on track. I’m not giving up on my dream.

I hope I can look back on this time 30 years from now, as a practicing physician, and be full of gratitude for pushing through this time and becoming who I truly believe I am meant to be. by @premednurse

2025 has already put me through the ringer for a number of reasons I can’t really disclose at this time, but believe me when I say it’s been a whirlwind.

Ultimately, I ended up having to reschedule my MCAT date as a result which has pushed back my application timeline an entire cycle.

Not to be dramatic, but it’s been devastating. I am proud of the work I have put in and what I have overcome to get to this point, but it isn’t easy. Being a mom and pursuing medicine isn’t easy. Right now, I’m just hurting and trying to redirect and reframe my efforts.

Anyways, 📸: @melissannphotograph surpassed my wildest dreams (per usual) and now I have the most beautiful photos of my sweet boy and I. He is truly the best part of me and keeps me going every single day.

This has been a major setback, but I have come too far to give up now. by @premednurse

2024 ✨

The year I went back to school as a wife, mom, stepmom, full-time nurse and business owner!

The year full of high high and low lows- the year I truly questioned if I had what it took to start again.

The year I finally chose to believe in myself.

2025 will be the year I apply to medical school- I. Am. Ready.
