This week’s Trainer Tip Tuesday looks a little different! 🏆🐴

We’re so excited for our IEA and IHSA teams to head to their first shows of the season this weekend! With competition right around the corner, we’re shifting our focus to show-day preparation and building a consistent pre-ride routine.

A good ride starts before you get in the saddle. Having a routine helps you manage nerves, build confidence, and stay focused on what you can control, even in an unfamiliar show environment.

This week’s Trainer Tip Tuesday breaks down how to prepare your mind and body for the show ring:

📖 Read: Pre-Ride Routines 101 and learn why consistency and mental preparation matter.
🧘 Prepare: Build your own pre-ride routine with breathing, visualization, and goal-setting exercises.
🐎 Ride: Put your routine into practice by setting an intention, finding your focus, and learning to reset when things don’t go as planned.

Remember, the goal isn’t perfection. It’s having a plan you can return to, no matter what happens in the ring.

Meet Jaime & Winston 🤎

If you saw our “happy retirement” post for Winston a few weeks ago… well, let’s just say retirement didn’t exactly go according to plan. 😂

After 15ish years of being a horse with a job, Winston was apparently very offended by the idea of being jobless. He missed his people, his friends, his home and, most importantly, his job. So naturally… he’s back. 🥹

This 20-year-old OTTB has been part of Premier for what feels like forever, and he is truly one of the most adored horses in the barn. These days, that means a little more specialized care from his diet to his skin care and everything in between, and he gets absolutely the best of it.

Now Winston is living the good, semi-retired life: getting thoroughly spoiled, and helping our beginner riders learn the basics of flatwork, find their canter, and take some of their very first jumps.🤎🐎

Say hi to Jaime and Winston! 👋

Last week, we focused on creating a secure, balanced seat. This week, we’re building on that foundation by learning to use each aid with more independence, clarity, and intention.

The goal isn’t stronger aids, it’s clearer ones.

After every lesson, our students help clean bits, bridles, and saddles before putting everything away. It’s a small part of the day that teaches responsibility, respect for the equipment, and good horsemanship.

A secure seat isn’t about holding on, it’s about finding your balance. 🐎

Your seat is your foundation in the saddle. When you’re centered and balanced, you can move with your horse instead of fighting the movement, and your hands and legs are free to give clearer, more precise aids.

After every lesson, we spend time walking our horses to help them recover safely before heading back to the barn. In the Florida heat, taking those extra few minutes makes a big difference.

The post-bath shine ✨

Our boarders and academy students groom before every ride - curry, hard brush, soft brush, and pick feet - helping massage natural oils through the coat while removing dirt and debris.

But when you’re dealing with Florida heat, humidity, sweat, bugs, and frequent hosing, sometimes your horse needs a little more than a brush. The right bath and shampoo can help target issues like dry skin, rain rot, and bug irritation.

Because a clean coat is pretty… but a healthy coat is even better. 🐴🤍
