Who cares if you make a mistake while you're working to get better?

Ask yourself that.

Because a lot of athletes care too much.
About how it looks.
About who's watching.
About whether a missed rep says something about who they are.

It doesn't.

A mistake in training isn't a verdict.
It's information.
It tells you exactly what to adjust next.

The fear of looking bad is what quietly slows development.
It keeps you in your comfort zone and calls it consistency.

Give yourself permission to be a work in progress.

The best in the world never stopped being one. by @premiericeprospects

You won't always play well.
You can always play right.

Some nights the puck won't bounce your way.

Your hands feel off.
Your timing is a half-step late.

That's sport.
It happens to everyone.

What doesn't have to slip is your effort.
Your compete.
The way you attack the next game.

Most athletes tie their focus to the outcome.
So when the outcome goes sideways, everything else goes with it.

The best ones separate the two.

They let go of the scoreboard and hold on to what's theirs:

How hard they work.
How they carry themselves
How they talk to themselves.

A bad game is a moment.

A consistent standard is a reputation. by @premiericeprospects

Most people judge success by how big something is.

More people, more reach, more numbers.

But size doesn't mean much if the quality isn't there.

When you start smaller than your goal, you give yourself room to do things well.

You have more time for each person.
You can pay attention to the details.
And you learn what actually works before you have too much going on to change it.

There's another benefit people don't talk about. When something small goes really well, it creates proof.

People want to be part of something that has a reputation for being good.

That makes growing a lot easier later.

When you go big too fast, it works the other way.

Mistakes happen in front of more people, standards slip, and it's much harder to recover.

Patience isn't about thinking small.

It's about making sure what you build is strong enough to grow. by @premiericeprospects
