Behind the Design 👀💦

Looking for a modern swimming pool that brings together great design, smart functionality, and plenty of fun? Take a look at this custom Chula Vista backyard.

The stepped pool wall creates more swim space, a relaxing area, and a striking water feature with three sheer descents. The elevated spa creates a natural spillway into the pool while doubling as a social sitting bench. And one of our favorite details? A custom Baja shelf with floating steps and swings creates a unique place to relax, hang out, and enjoy the pool.

This project proves that thoughtful design can make the most of your backyard while creating a space that’s beautiful, functional, and built for entertaining.

Thinking about a swimming pool, salt water pool, or exploring different types of pools for your backyard? Premier Pools & Spas San Diego can help bring your vision to life.

🔥 YOUR POOL COVER COULD BE SAVING YOU HUNDREDS EVERY MONTH.

Did you know 73% of heat is lost through the surface of your swimming pool? For a 28’ x 14’ swimming pool maintained at 85°, that can mean roughly $200–$250/month in gas usage without a pool cover.

A quality pool solar blanket can help reduce heat loss and potentially save you hundreds of dollars per month while keeping your pool warmer and ready to enjoy. 💦

And the benefits go beyond energy savings:
✅ Safety: An important layer of protection, especially for homes with kids or pets
✅ Cleaner water: Helps keep leaves and debris out
✅ Less maintenance: Spend less time cleaning your pool
✅ Better heat retention: Keep your swimming pool warmer for longer

Whether you’re exploring types of pools, small backyard pool ideas, modern pools, an in ground hot tub, or designing your dream backyard, planning for the right cover can make a big difference.

🚨 THINK A SWIMMING POOL WILL SKYROCKET YOUR WATER BILL? THINK AGAIN. 💦
This is one of the biggest myths we hear from San Diego homeowners.

Yes, filling your pool will cause a temporary increase in your water bill. But once it’s filled, ongoing water use is primarily from evaporation and splash out.
With proper circulation, regular maintenance, and a pool cover, a well-designed swimming pool can be surprisingly water efficient.

💧 Typical ongoing water cost: around $15–$20/month.
That’s it.

So before you let the fear of a huge water bill stop you from building your dream backyard, get the facts.
At Premier Pools & Spas San Diego, we design swimming pools to be efficient, easy to maintain, and built for years of enjoyment.

Your dream pool might cost less to maintain than you think.
