First Deaf Black Female Footwear Designer on the rise.

The Footwear Creators Scholarship Workshop in partnership with @arsutoriaschool and @fdra1944 @newlab | Michigan Central and @footlocker

This Italian shoemaking workshop represented an exciting step forward in advancing professional development opportunities for footwear scholarship awardee Ebony “geeky” Watson in the United States for the first time in history along with an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter.

Ebony was able to breeze through the sneaker construction, materials cutting, and shoe assembling. Under the guidance of industry experts, participants learned techniques in the PLC|Arsutoria Footwear Creation Studio straight from Milan, Italy.

“I look forward to showing the world my superpower of what it’s like to hear through my eyes and convey art & tech with my hands since I fall on deaf ears. This workshop provides an incredible platform to unleash my creativity and passion for footwear design”, said student awardee Ebony “geeky” Watson.

She is set to pave the way for other BIPOC deaf / hard of hearing individuals, and set up classes in ASL in 2024. In the meantime she is working with different brands as a designer, will she launch her own shoe?!

Special thanks to my instructors Paola, Adriana from Milan, Italy, Eustace, the OG president of Pensole Lewis College Dwayne Edwards, Kathleen, Elizabeth aka Lizzy, John (ASL interpreter) JP for the most coolest interview ever, Footwear mentor Krystle Fortune and my mother & father for guiding me through the process of my journey. It’s only the beginning. I’m only getting started! Breaking Barriers ⚒️⚒️🛠️👟👟👟💫💫💫🎯🎯🎯

Watching everything unfold on Big Brother @bigbrothercbs —especially with the live feeds—was difficult and, at times, painful to witness. Through the microaggressions, privilege, power dynamics, and moments of degradation, you never lost yourself.

By the power of God, our ancestors, and the love and prayers of family and friends back home, @iamtaylorbrown Taylor - you pushed through and carried our family’s legacy with you every step of the way. I know Sam Brown, Uncle Roger, Baby T (Alte) and the list go on…is smiling down from Heaven.

You made it to Second place, but a WINNER in my eyes and in the eyes of the world. 🏆❤️ with authentic & organic Votes!

I am so incredibly proud of you, baby cousin. @iamtaylorbrown YOU DID IT! You represented us, you stood strong, and you made history in your own way. Your journey will always mean more than a placement. 🙏🏾✨

Spent my birthday in a castle 🏰✨
Oheka Castle vibes—like a queen 👑 surrounded by real sculptures, timeless antiques, amazing food, and perfect drinks.

Today is also a sacred day—1.5 symbolizes new beginnings (1) paired with power, movement, and freedom (5). A reminder to step boldly into purpose, claim alignment, and move without hesitation.

Standing firm on business all year and beyond. I’m pulling a Dave East on everybody—and that’s on G-O-D.

Special thank you to my ❤️ @madamjeybelle for making it unforgettable. I love you to the moon & back 🌙💫
And thank you to everyone for the birthday love and wishes—it truly means a lot 🖤 by @premiumgeek
