Savoring the last vestiges of summer as nature unveils its beauty. 🍂 Did you know in Arizona, deer can often be seen navigating both the scorching deserts and the cooler highlands? This momma and her fawns, seen just down the road from our house, are a testament to their adaptability.

Fun fact: Fawns are born with spots that fade as they grow older, helping them camouflage in their early days. Watching these gentle creatures is a reminder of the reason we enjoy living in a rural area vs an urban area. Raising kids that interact with nature daily is an education that you can’t get anywhere else!

The monsoons have worked their magic. 🌿💚

If you could take an out-of-town visitor to just one spot in Prescott, where would you take them?

This stunning view of the Granite Dells captures a side of the landscape we don’t always see, complete with a vibrant claret cup cactus blooming among the rocks. Prescott really does have beauty around every corner.

The Granite Dells would definitely be high on our list. What spot would be at the top of yours?

Thumb Butte Trail #33 🌲

One of Prescott’s most iconic and well-loved hikes, Thumb Butte Trail is a great spot when you want forest views without going far from town. The trail begins in the Thumb Butte Recreation Area in Prescott National Forest and offers a beautiful mix of ponderosa pines, interpretive signs, shaded stretches, and classic views of Thumb Butte along the way.

The loop is considered moderate, with some steeper sections, so it’s a good one to bring water, wear good shoes, and take your time. With picnic areas, restrooms, and parking nearby, it’s an easy local favorite for a morning hike, a family outing, or a quick nature reset.

I’ll be honest, this is the first summer we have really made the Prescott Public Library part of our routine, and now I’m wondering why we didn’t start sooner.

In the last two weeks alone, the kids and I have been three times, and they have loved it. There is something so fun about letting them walk through the children’s section and pick out their own books.

The kids’ area is so nice, the librarians have been incredibly kind and helpful, and my kids have loved the little hidden toys and things to spot while we’re there.

They also have computers the kids can use, and my personal favorite is the grassy area out back. It feels like the perfect little spot for a picnic lunch and some reading after picking out books.

Sometimes the best summer activities are the simple ones right here in town.

Save this for one of those summer days when you need something simple, free, and fun to do with the kids. 📚

Patio season in Prescott looks pretty good from here. ☀️

@triplecreekkitchenandspirits at the Hilton Garden Inn is right in downtown Prescott, with a shaded outdoor patio overlooking the splash pad, green grass, trees, and all the downtown summer charm.

It’s a great spot to grab lunch, enjoy a drink, sit outside, and still be close to everything happening downtown.
