December 23rd Update, short-film, 2025

I’ve been filming @creative_lou for the past few years, learning more about him and his practice. Two years ago D with a virus that left him unable to walk for over a year. Defying all odds he trained to gain mobility while also continuing to grow his art practice. I spoke with him recently about how his health and practice are coming along. Over the last five years, I’ve shot 30 short documentaries on creatives from all backgrounds. I do everything myself—from the lighting and interviewing all the way to the editing. My only plan has ever been to give these films to the world. They’re typically 7-12 minutes long, and I post them on Instagram to push back against the idea that people are best consumed in 12-20 second increments. I have over 50 terabytes of conversations, b-roll, and pictures from some truly incredible people. I love painting with moving images and sound, and I’ll keep this project going as long as the creator allows me to.

My brother Nate sent me a voice note that floored me. I spent a month listening to it 7-10 times a day before I happened to hear “Mystery” by Anita Baker, and everything just clicked.
