So what can we say? We are so proud to be a part of this community of artists, musicians, makers and creators. Y’all showed up and made this the best paint party yet!

Thank you to @notashownc for bringing a truly special lineup. A creative force that spanned genres and made for an explosive set of energy and vibes.

Shoutout to the artists who performed:
@0versou1 @damiyana_art @cj.monet @hollowsoulmusic @yin.zay @nunafterhours @whooptheband

We are here tired but with full hearts, stoked to see this artist experiment with another year in the books.

Stay tuned here and on the @artbarnnc page for more events coming soon.

A little project update post and some reflection.

Cross stitch at about 75% here. Can really see Wendy clearly now and even some of the background. Was worried about the contrast but I think she stands out well.

Kennel is having a good summer. Been enjoying the weekends breaking a hard sweat and keeping it looking somewhat decent outside. This was before trimming the bushes. Got to share a story with Michelle about how I used to do it at the Mayflower with a sword. I was pretty silly but felt like a badass lol

My green thumb is holding on despite my irregular waterings. It’s funny how guilty I get when I see them brown a little or drop a leaf. Like taking care of like 30 living things is some sorta easy thing with everything I got going on. Life needs to slow down. I got plants to care for.

Finally, my animal family is my life. My little tag team of chaos. I’m so happy how close they’ve become and how close they stay with me. Hoagie does tend to get jealous of the neighbor cat always trying to check in on his gf Sugar though.

Finally finally, why didn’t anyone warn us that group projects as adults would be this hard. I think back to school today and how exciting and how scary it would be when the teacher said time to bring your desks together. I remember at the time always struggling with people who didn’t come together in those moments, like how can you pass up this collab party? As I’ve been an adult for longer than I was ever a kid, I have to say not a lot has really changed there. Finding those that sit at the table and share their stories, their perspectives, their insights are still some of my favorite people. It’s how I think all of “work” is sorta meant to be. Is that why we found it important to do that in school? If so… why does it seem so much harder now than it ever was then? We are all sitting at the same table, sure a little bigger, but we all just wanna make the best of these moments. Pass the glue, let’s build together. Drop the drama.

Maybe the sun is getting to me today…. taken in Durham, North Carolina by @pressink

It’s that time of the year again! The annual paint party turns 5 this year. We throw down this June 27th, 3pm-on.

To celebrate here are some of our favorite memories from the previous years.

What started as a simple idea of getting a few friends together to put some paint on this giant red barn has become one of my favorite days of the year. This year we bring back some of our favorite musicians from previous shows and some new faces as well.

Stay tuned for that announcement as well as some others as we lead up to the day. taken in Durham, North Carolina by @pressink
