Shout out to my homie @chene.films

I had no idea Ethan was filming throughout the weekend. The next morning he texted me, โ€œLook what I made,โ€ and this was there. Itโ€™s hard to put into words how much I appreciated that.

Flying has become a lot more than learning how to operate an airplane. Every lesson, every mistake, and every hour in the cockpit is another reminder that discipline isnโ€™t something you can just talk about. Itโ€™s something you# practice.

Marcus Aurelius wrote that the impediment to action advances action. Every challenge becomes part of the path if youโ€™re willing to learn from it. Aviation has a funny way of proving that over and over again.

And one lesson thatโ€™s become just as important: donโ€™t let appreciation stay as a thought.

So, thank you, Ethan. This meant more than you probably realize and itโ€™s so cool having a friend like you.

Hereโ€™s to good friends, blue skies, and spending our short time becoming a little more capable than we were yesterday. #aviation #flighttraining taken in Jacksonville, Florida by @prestonp

27.

Itโ€™s wild how fast the years move. You look back and realize whole seasons of life have come and gone in what feels like a blink. This past year has been full of milestones, challenges, and growth, but also a reminder that life is fragile and fleeting.

Whatโ€™s meant the most hasnโ€™t been the big achievements alone, but the people whoโ€™ve walked beside me through it all. Family, friends, and the little everyday moments that give meaning to the rush of time.

At 27, Iโ€™m gratefulโ€ฆ grateful for where Iโ€™ve been, for the people I share it with, and for the chance to keep becoming who Iโ€™m meant to be.
Thank you to everyone whoโ€™s been part of my life thus far and the person each of you has helped shape me to be. by @prestonp

Today I did something Iโ€™ve wanted to do for a long time. I flew an airplane all on my own for the first time. No instructor. No fail safe. Just me, a Cessna, and a lot of trust in everything Iโ€™ve studied over the past few months. All of it leading up to taking that left seat alone.

Now thereโ€™s a tradition in aviation where after your first solo, your instructor cuts the back of your shirt off. It started way back in the day when flight instructors sat behind students in tandem planes and didnโ€™t have intercoms. So if the student needed help, the instructor would pull on the back of their shirt to get their attention. After a student flew solo, it meant they didnโ€™t need the shirt tug anymore, so they cut it off to mark the milestone.

I didnโ€™t just wear any shirt today. I wore one Iโ€™ve had forever. Itโ€™s come with me on every trip Iโ€™ve taken outside the country. Iโ€™ve worn it through a lot of tough seasons in my life. It originally belonged to someone Iโ€™ve known since I was a kid. He passed a few years back and wearing it today felt like bringing him with me for the ride. There was no better way to retire something with so much sentimental value. Now that shirt is cut up and after I pass my check ride it is going in a frame. Itโ€™ll hang in my house forever with all the stories it has carried from my life to this point.

This journey hasnโ€™t been easy. Studying, memorizing, practicing. Early mornings, late nights, and constantly checking weather reports like a part-time meteorologist. But Iโ€™ve grown through it. Iโ€™ve earned this. And Iโ€™ve still got a long way to go, but today was a big one. taken in Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport by @prestonp

2024 Recapโ€ฆ in March 2025, because punctuality is overrated

Look, some people do their year-end recaps in December. Some do them in January. I, on the other hand, like to let the year marinate a littleโ€ฆ really make sure it was worth recapping before committing to the post. So here we are, mid-March 2025, finally taking a look back at 2024.

Last year was one for the books. I started working on my private pilotโ€™s license, which means Iโ€™m one step closer to terrorizing the skies (legally, of course). I also got back on track with life, hit the gym more consistently, and got my mind right.

On top of that, I got to see my favorite band perform multiple times and even met the lead singerโ€”huge flex, I know. But honestly, the real highlight of 2024? The people. Iโ€™ve got some amazing friends, an incredible girlfriend, and just an all-around solid group of people who make life that much better. Grateful for every single one of you, even if I show my appreciation in odd ways

Also, special shoutout to Kentucky for sneaking its way onto my list of favorite states. Took a road trip with my girlfriend for my cousinโ€™s wedding, and between the bourbon, the scenery, and the company, it was an elite experience. Whether my newfound love for the Bluegrass State is a result of its natural beauty or its aggressive dedication to distilling alcohol is still up for debate, but either way, 10/10, would visit again.

Hereโ€™s to another year of good vibes, great people, and maybe being a little more timely with my 2025 recap. No promises. by @prestonp

I've always had a passion for photography, but honestly, I've never felt like I had the skills for it. The editing, the angles, and the whole process seemed overwhelming, and it kept me from really diving in. But recently, Iโ€™ve been lucky enough to have my friend @chene.films by my side, guiding me through every step and showing me how to bring photos to life. His patience and support (and just his friendship in general) have made a huge difference.

These pumpkin patch photos with some of my favorite people wouldnโ€™t have happened without him giving me that boost of confidence. Here's to learning, capturing memories, and great friends who stick by our side! Thanks, Ethan โ€“ youโ€™re the real MVP.
