We talk about Body Positivity,
Sustainable fashion/lifestyle.
Let's share some love and awareness!
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
A single pair of jeans takes about 20,000 gallons of water! Now imagine how many pairs did you own till now. And multiply that with quater of the world population. Ya the number seems crazyyyy!! 💢💢

My journey with #upycling started after discovering this knowledge. This fact blew my mind and I swore to actively work on it. To spread more awareness and give those discarded garments a second chance to life. By doing this we can help reduce #landfillpollution.

Everyone of us #denimlovers owe it to the #motherearth 🌿 Think logically - choose wisely.

In cue for production #wip

Approximately total volume of industrial recyclable #textilewaste is at least around 9 million tonnes globally per year. We need to own our responsibility towards #motherearth.

All the textiles for our products are #upcycled from industry wastes or discarded #recyclable garments.

Here's some fabric #asmr
I love feeling textures on fabrics. Looking closely to appreciate the #weavers art. It's amazing to think how few narrow little single threads crosses together to create such beautiful long never ending #textiles.

What's your favourite memory with fabrics❓

I have been working on upcycling #oldfabrics and used clothes since the past couple of years. Made various types of samples. Created numerous bags and jewelleries for friends and family. But wasn't quite ready to share it with the world. Not cause I didn't believe in it, but the idea of perfectionism stopped me. I thought when everything looks absolutely perfect. When I have the absolute perfect photos, when I have the perfect words to describe them, so on and so forth.

But what I realised is, that it will forever be a journey. I will never stop fine-tuning them.

So welcome aboard to this exciting new journey of @pretcurry. The journey of creating #upcycled and #sustainablebags!

*Stay tuned more updates 😊

"I have always had the blessing of having good friends and the majority of them have been women. This was because I often would feel very uneasy around groups of boys and they would feel the same around me. I know now it was because of the bullying and my utterly different mindset and skillset. There was a time when a group of teenage boys or young men would make me tense and raise some anxiety inside. I would often find it difficult to talk to groups of men because we almost always had nothing in common. Thankfully, I managed to find groups, some of them all-male even, where it was comparatively easier to be myself. I am not the only ‘weird’ man around, and that was a blessing to find out eventually.

The lesson overall was listening to my feelings and intuition. Leading with the head is the most common block that I see in life and it has been no different for me. But the continuous experience of being an outsider no matter where I was, kept me open to seeing. Finding my path has always come from following what feels right. Not necessarily ‘good’ but what feels correct, aligned. Thinking about it often makes no sense because it is deeper than mere thought. Logical, problem-solving thinking has its place but it needs balancing out with intuition, symbolic information and direct knowledge. It is in the balance that the beauty of our world lies. I am not a man. I am a self-aware being who is experiencing. You cannot put a label on individual experience. It just is." - @shailpik

"I moved out to a shared apartment with a friend after college. It so happened that a girl who was being friendly with me during a party, got too drunk and chose to fall asleep in my room, on my bed. Later, it was suggested by a ‘male’ friend that I should have taken advantage of such a situation. I remember being fairly weirded out by the idea. Why would I want to engage in sex when the person was not even able to stay conscious. I simply said that it was not something I would want to do.

The truth that most boys aren’t told and most men don’t find out early enough is that this whole thing is a little game and if you want to have fun, you need to be fun. And causing emotional or physical pain is definitely not fun, well, unless it is consensual between adults. That’s a different story. So, it is important to have that soft touch and that playful approach because even if it is a one-night thing, it is still deeply intimate and it will be a real, enjoyable, even memorable experience if there is acceptance, attention and love.

Love need not be reserved for the worthy. That is not love. All beings, without exception are worthy of our love. We are allowed to love a person we do not agree with, would not trust our life with, would not normally engage with.

Understanding this changed things completely. All of us naturally want to express love. And through some fortunate situations, I escaped becoming conditioned to otherwise. The escape was partial but it was still something to work with. I wanted to have a connection before anything else happened." - @shailpik

"Let’s start with the fact that most men don’t realise that there is a systemic problem. If there is emotional pain, we are taught that all we need is to work hard at our goals and achieve success in the most outwardly visible, enviable way possible. If there is a softer side, it is only for after a few drinks or smokes or whatever the narrow band outlet is. The emptiness inside can be filled with money and sex. And if it is not working, it is probably because the quantity is not enough. And if there is a large quantity then it is probably because ‘respect’ and ‘power’ are missing. It is time to get recognised. And on and on this illusion goes. There is coercion for sexual favours, there is belittling of other men and their achievements, there is superficial bonding and there is the ‘othering’ of the female. Not seeing the person but only the shell, the woman is either desirable or she is not. Either ways, it is there to serve the ego. The so-called ‘male ego’. But ego is all pervasive.

I have been a part of or on the fringes of almost all of these and their related experiences. And I am deeply grateful that I was always kept at an arm’s length by most of the ‘men’ around me. It allowed me to participate without being wholly indoctrinated. I could step in and out and thus give space to feeling uneasiness around these situations, and decide to not participate any longer. It just did not feel right. I was already seen as an outsider, an anomaly, and so I had nothing to prove and no leader figure to please and gain favours from. Staying away from companies and being a freelancer also helped with this. I enjoyed the autonomy and forming my own team as I like it. And thus I have been blessed with a very balanced group of professionals where I have found great courage, dedication and skill in both men and women. It feels like a complete experience when there is natural, organic mingling of the two sides." - @shailpik

"Let’s look for pure experience that has no male or female. When we do, we will find that we all experience pain, stigma, shame and also, joy, love, peace, freedom. We struggle and we achieve and we play and we learn. We do it as ourselves. Just as we are. There is no male happiness or feminine sense of peace. It just is.

Now let’s look for labelled ‘male’ or ‘female’ experiences. Immediately, we need to differentiate the same major experiences into various shades - the pain of childbirth, the pain of menstrual cramps, the pain of being kicked in the balls, the pain of being told ‘not man enough’, the pain of being told ‘just a woman’. Interestingly, the joy and happiness experiences of the world are a little harder to differentiate but we can try - the joy of achieving success in a male-dominated industry, the feeling of uplifting a fellow oppressed woman, the satisfaction of being strong and formidable, the satisfaction of winning over a girl we have our heart set on, the feeling of power that comes from being the ‘man’ of the house/team/situation.

The thing is, both of these perspectives are valid. There are pains and pleasures that are unique to the male or female experience. The world is very much male-heavy. And that heaviness is actually felt by all, not just women. So how does a man feel this?"- @shailpik

"I have always considered myself to be an ‘alternative’ male character in the drama that is my life. However, when I consciously started on a spiritual path, I realised that there was much resistance in me to those parts that may be considered ‘not manly’. Examples of this would be - child-like behaviour in wanting to be silly and to play for the sake of play; tender emotional behaviour towards anyone except for the lover and that too in rare moments; avoiding conflict and shying away from fights. The list can go on but it illustrates an important point - the conditioned parts of our psyche can find very crafty ways of hiding from detection and commit conditioned behaviour in the open without us realising it. I say this because here I was, feeling pretty open and alternative, and then some honest deep contemplation showed me that there was a lot more that can be opened.

To the individual experiencing this world, there is really only experience by itself. It gets labelled after the fact as the ‘male experience’, by others and then by our conditioned minds." - @shailpik

"While in college, the next major lesson that began is still going on in many ways. This has to do with relationships of all kinds.

If I have been building upon my previous lessons to work out this one, it wasn’t apparent to me up until this point of me reflecting on it. But acceptance of the essential non-genderedness of all activities of all kinds and acceptance of one’s own unique personality are all very essential in building relationships that nurture and uplift one another. Acceptance of self without judgement allows for the acceptance of all without judgement and vice-versa. And just as the whole-hearted acceptance of my friends helped me to accept myself, my acceptance of those around me helps them be their true selves, thus creating a stronger, deeper bond of love.

I read somewhere that it is easy to keep looking at a mountain in the distance but it takes constant effort to look at what’s in front of the very tip of our nose. Self-reflection builds the necessary skills that are absolutely essential in creating lasting and mutually beneficial relationships.

A major part of building beautiful new relationships is healing the ones that already exist. And healing the primary ones is most important - parents, siblings and any equally impacting ones that most happen during childhood, such as friends or parent figures. Love needs to pierce both ways, into the self and into the other. And someday to realise that there is only the divine self and there is no other." - @shailpik
