Throwing back Thursday 🙋🏽‍♀️

5 YEARS APART! 😍 Same hair, different length. The journey speaks for itself! ❤️

From those short otukwuru (Igbo name for the short hairstyle😁) five years ago to these beautiful, thick, long chunky braids now🙌🏽

If there’s one thing raising my daughters has taught me, it’s that growing natural hair is a journey, but retaining that growth is where the real work lies! 💯

She only asked me for directions… but unfortunately, she asked the WRONG person 🤷🏽‍♀️😁.

I mean, how am I supposed to show you the way when YOUR HAIR is clearly crying out for directions too? 🫵🏽🤔

So naturally, I did what was “more important” 😬. Put her to sleep, sort the hair out FIRST and THEN show her where she was going. Win win innit? 😁

Hair loss at the nape area may appear less worrisome to everyone else, but to the person experiencing it, it can affect confidence just as much as hair loss on the front or other parts of the scalp.
For this reason, I always coach my clients how to avoid this and also give targeted treatments to those that are already struggling with it.

As much as we’re all catching the AI fever and using it to make our jobs easier, using AI-generated content to make your products look like magic potions is where we should draw the line.

That’s not creative marketing, it’s deception. Misleading people with unrealistic AI-generated “results” should never become the new normal, and it absolutely deserves to be called out.

I know I’ve said this multiple times but I won’t stop talking about the need to teach our kids to embrace their natural hair and beautiful melanin from an early age.

Speaking from experience, I can assure you that doing this helps them grow into adults who don’t feel the need to change themselves to feel accepted.

Confidence starts at home. Every wash day, every hairstyle, every compliment, and every conversation about how beautiful their natural hair is plants a seed of self-worth that lasts a lifetime.

Let’s raise children who never question whether their Afro is beautiful because they’ve always known it is 🩷🩷.
