#minwaxpartner I finally built the mantel I’ve been dreaming about for our fireplace! ✨

This project has been on my list for so long, and I’m so excited to see it come together. From assembling the wood to adding the finishing touches, this was such a rewarding DIY transformation.

For the final step, I partnered with @minwaxusa and used their One Step Stain & Topcoat to finish the mantel. I loved how simple the staining process was and how it brought out the natural beauty of the wood while giving it a finished look.

If you’ve been wanting to try a DIY project but feel intimidated by the finishing steps, the right products can make the process feel much more approachable.

I’ve always wished I had a mantel, so this year I’m building one myself 🍂

Every time I decorate for a new season or holiday, I end up wishing I had one. So before fall decor goes up, I’m doing it, one step at a time.

Part 1: building the 2x4 support that anchors the mantel, plus a first look at the gorgeous red oak I picked for the mantel itself. I’ve also got 3 stains to choose from 👀

Day 10 of 10: the home system I’ve relied on the longest, for over 20 years.
It’s a planner. It has looked different in every season of my life, but I’ve never stopped using one.
If you’re a mom, you know the feeling of having 100 tabs open in your brain at all times. It drives me nuts. Getting everything out of my head and onto paper is how I sleep at night, I promise.
Right now my favorite version is a customizable binder. I’m juggling so many parts of life that need attention every single day, and a binder lets me build it around exactly that. I can add sections, move things around, and change it as life changes.

Hot take: the secret to an organized home isn’t actually organizing. 👀

It’s **continually decluttering** and letting go of the things that no longer serve you.

One of my favorite systems is keeping a set number of hangers for our entire house. When I run out, I don’t buy more—I take it as my cue to go through the closets and let go of things we’re no longer wearing.

And if we haven’t used something in an entire calendar year, I usually take that as a sign that it’s time to let it go. (With exceptions, of course, for occasional things like party wear or traditional clothing!)

Less stuff = less to organize, clean, maintain, and manage. 🙌

One load a day = about 10 minutes of laundry a day and NO laundry mountain. 🙌🏼

I finally connected the dots between my Industrial Engineering degree, my years as a project manager, and what I naturally do in my own home now.

I’m constantly looking at a space and thinking:
“How can this work better?”
And honestly… it makes SO much sense now. 😂

Your fridge might be one of the biggest sources of visual clutter in your kitchen. 👀

I like to keep the front of my fridge completely clear, and anything that needs to be displayed goes on the side.

But the school paperwork that’s where this hack completely changed the game for me. 🙌🏼 I learned this trick from @naptimekitchen and now I can keep track of all the papers my kids bring home without letting them take over my kitchen.

If your kitchen counter constantly feels cluttered, try this:

Step 1: Look at everything currently sitting on your counter.

Step 2: Ask yourself: Do I use this every day—or multiple times a day?

Step 3: If yes → it probably earned its spot.

If no → find it a home somewhere else.

Step 4: Make an exception for bulky appliances that are difficult to move in and out every day.

The goal isn’t an empty countertop. It’s a countertop that works for you instead of adding visual noise 🤍
