I wanted to share the UGLY side of Cancer. The side that most don’t see but us fighters and survivors! I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was down bad until I chose to advocate and ask questions to get the help I needed and deserve! I flew home to prepare Thanksgiving for my girls to celebrate them@on their new home (@_mini_ky_ and @nitafromig_ ) from Dallas. Didn’t know when I left it would be a long time before I get back there!
This has to be the hardest battle yet! This was day 3 before diagnosis. Looking back at this video just shows how far I’ve come in this battle. Since being diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer I decided to write my OWN story. Hopefully I inspire someone along the way!! Before everyone wakes up to get their Father’s Day shenanigans started, I just wanted to share something’s.
As for me, my dad died during the pandemic ALONE, and it didn’t have to be this way. No matter what your struggles are, your children will want to be there.
I never got the chance to sit by his bedside and ask him the “why” of it all and never will. Don’t have your children mourning you when they don’t even really know you!
I’m so grateful for the MEN that stood up for my girls so they don’t suffer or cling to every man that gives off attention.
To Timmy Clark for ALWAYS being a great uncle and sometimes my dad lol. He has always gone out his way from the time I had them. He would take them as babies, watched them while I busted 16 hour shifts, never judged me, just not too long ago took a load to Florida just to spend time with my baby girl just to find out that child had no oil in her car!!🤣🤣🤣
He made time to actually sit with my middle two at breakfasts just to catch up, then just the other day he had to give my other daughter a jump even while talking his trash!!🤣🥰
He works so hard for HIS children and family as well. Timmy can go from making bottles to now owning his business and producing good seeds from being determined not to be what he knew he didn’t like. He is one of the best DADDIES out here.
You see fatherhood isn’t just about your biological children, it can look like many things to those who never really got to experience it!
We LOVE you and cherish you daily!! Enjoy your Fathers Day weekend big bro and again, I thank you for being there through it ALL!! Mommy is beaming from the Heavens witnessing the man, the father, the husband you’ve become and still growing!!❤️❤️🥰🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼WE LOVE YOU BIG DOG!! by @pretty_paralegal

CHEMO CHRONICLES:
I began this journey of telling MY story because I didn’t want anyone to tell it but ME. I never did it looking for pity, or expecting any ONE person to feel bad for me. We all have issues mine just happens to be the BIG C. It affects so many of us directly or indirectly. We have all lost someone to this terrible disease.
I am telling my story to give HOPE, gain compassion for us all, and show others that I’m fighting for those who no longer can, my mom being my biggest inspiration.
I’m advocating for change as well! They do not screen for Lung Cancer until you’re 50! The symptoms can appear as many other things so without scans and blood tests, you’re more than likely to be treated for other conditions before the actual lung cancer diagnosis. I’m 48 with stage 4 lung cancer with no preexisting health issues. I did every yearly exam and still am HERE!
Cancer will affect patients differently but what you can do as a friend, loved one, caregiver or just a passing stranger is don’t assume because we look good, we feel good or vice versa. It takes a lot of energy to fight this disease and some days all you have the energy for is a SMILE!
I’ll keep being thankful for being up and able to do all the things I CAN do and give myself grace for the things I can’t.
My girls entertain my foolishness (like crabfeasts at home or day trips)
My dogs get treated the best because they don’t leave my side even when the worst hits!
This last few months have been a little tough but nothing I can’t handle with the love and support of my family and the support from the ppl I don’t even know.
I have no REGRETS as I have and still am able to live on my terms!! I have experienced some of the most beautiful things money can’t buy.
