20 Years Later… ❤️🕊️

June 4, 2006, is a day I’ll never forget. It changed our lives forever.

Tamika, Niki, and I were in a terrible car accident while traveling from Houston back to Brenham, Texas, to return to Blinn College. I remember being so tired that I fell asleep in the back seat. Before I closed my eyes, I said, “Wake me up when we get back to Blinn.” I had no idea those would be the last words I remembered before everything changed.

I woke up in the hospital confused, not knowing what had happened. All I remember is seeing my family standing around me, crying.

Two days later, on June 6, 2006, Niki passed away. I didn’t find out until I was released from the hospital. I never got the chance to tell her goodbye, and that’s something that has stayed with me for the last 20 years. We had just become close again after an argument, and I thank God we were able to make things right before that day.

Twenty years later, Tamika and I are still talking. Our friendship never faded—we’re still friends, still family, and forever connected by what we lived through.

Today, we remember you, Niki. We celebrate your life, cherish the memories, and carry your love with us every day.
