As a child, grown folks said go lay down for everything. If you sick, go lay down. You snitchin, go lay down. You hungry, go lay down. Talkin back, go lay down … lol. I’m today years old and I’m really appreciating my elders for making me go take naps. A nap will solve a lot of problems frfr.

I wrote a caption to this post that had me so mad to the point I was sick. All I heard was my grandma voice say, go lay down. I never got to finish the caption so here it is 🤷🏽‍♀️

Never underestimate the power of a nap 💤

What’s a Black dollar to a non Black community? Irrelevant! …. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Preservation of our race is the name of the big bxtxh 🐘in the room 🤫 by @prettywize1

The only thing that’s gone stop “most” Black women from going into the nail shops and beauty supply stores is a flash mob with cameras exposing them right out front. And even then, most of em either don’t care and might even try to fight you lbs. The real revolution for Black economic power lies with the Black women.

I believe there’s a lot to unpack when it come to conversations about Black womens identity and whether or not materialistic things are simply complimentary items or a way of hiding the origins of your true identity.

The way in which the world has stigmatized the Black women has taken a toll on our community and the big fat elephant 🐘 in the room got people so quiet you can hear a pin drop. These types of conversations are necessary in order for our community to heal. Everybody won’t understand, everybody won’t agree and everybody can’t go. Historically we was divided between the house and the field. We ain’t never ALL had the same beliefs.

This is a great opportunity to redefine the standards of beauty within our community. Little Black girls need to know that they are beautiful with the body, face and hair that God blessed them with. I believe as grown women it is our responsibility to not only tell them but demonstrate this more in our daily lives so that natural beauty becomes something that they embrace just as much as the enhancements. by @prettywize1

On this day I cried tears of joy and pain. I had to cancel my hair and makeup appointment because my son had his first football game of the season and I’m a momma first 🤷🏽‍♀️ My outfit of choice was not giving 😒 AND I was an hr late to my shoot 😢 I sat in my car and had the ugliest cry on a day that I’m supposed to be happy. My brother’s spirit said “you tweakin” get there, RN! He said to do it for us and he reminded me how far I’d come 🥺 y’all istg I turned up the music cleaned my face and grabbed my work heels from my trunk and had a fck it moment. Let’s do it!

Did it unprepared
Did it alone
Did it hurting
Did it broke
Did it unhealed
Did it sick
Did it scared
Did it with mental instability
Did it through a break up
Did it through the loss of my entire circle
Did it through the rumors

Friday when I walk the stage all glory be to the most high for keeping me 🙌🏽 For 13 years I did a job no one bothered telling me there was a professional title for, now I have my ASW and can put CHW behind my name 🤏🏽 (Community Health Worker). This is huge for me because I never got to walk 8th due to expulsion and I was a HS drop out that got a GED in the mail. This small step was a leap for me. Moral of the story, do it regardless. God said come as you are. My journey continues 🎓 #iamjournie
