6 meets, 3 events, 12 medals/2 next in, and a bunch of laughter and tears later… 🎙️📕📝🏅

THE BEST FRICKIN FRESHMAN YEAR EVER!!!!! I don’t even think words can explain how proud I am of how my first high school season turned out. Memories were made this year that no other team has given me. Within the speech team it truly felt like a family. I have a bunch of “thank you’s” to give out again.

First, my coaches. Erik and Jamion have been two of the best coaches I have ever had. Whether it be one act, or now speech, they are always there for us. It is a very bitter sweet end to one of our coaches. Jamion is stepping down from assistant coach and we will forever miss him. Although I have only had him a couple of years, he has been such a great support system. And Erik has come to every meet and practice to cheer us on and help us grow as speakers and people.

Second, my seniors. I don’t think I have ever loved a group of people more. You guys have inspired me through one act and speech. Special shoutouts to Alyssa and Emma for helping both inspiring me, and helping me out together my poetry. Shoutout to Easton for inspiring my past few humorous pieces and helping me block them. Shoutout to Hailey for helping with OID. Shoutout to Tanner for hitting my with a backpack, a coat, and a book. And final shoutout to all of my seniors.

*SHOUT OUT TO MY STATE QUALIFIERS AND PLACERS*

Overall, it was a great season. I met lots of amazing speakers from all different schools. I broke finals in all of my events more than 3 times. I became your 2025 conference poetry champ. And honestly I just had a great time.

Although my season didn’t end the way I wanted it to, I’m already looking into next season.

Watch out Kearney, next year I’ll be on that stage to kick some a—

Yma Sumac, Ida Lupino, Ona Munson, Ava Khan, Una O’Neil, Ava Gardner, Ugo Betti, Eva Gabor, Ira Wolfhert, Ilya Erenberg, Aba Eben, Uta Hagen, and onomatopoeia: You will forever be missed 🙏🏻😖😢

As the legend moves on, “He’ll never know” 🐿️
As my Freshman One Act season comes to a close, I have never been more proud to be called a theatre kid. With this family I feel completely invincible. I have made great relationships with people that I will never forget. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to act with this group of people.
First of all, thank you seniors. You all have been the backbone to my speech and one act career. I have looked up to you and I always will. Your positive attitudes have taught me so much. No one will ever be able to replace you.
Second, thank you to my amazing coaches. You have helped me to evolve as an actor and as a person. I have learned to love theatre more than ever.
Thank you to all the parents who helped feed us, teach us, and who packed every auditorium we stepped into. Performing for you was a complete blessing.
I thank all other supporters. Every school has amazing actors and I had so much fun watching you perform and interacting with you all.
And for the rest of you, I love you all. I can’t wait for what next season has to bring and I can’t wait to do it with you all again.

But for now, Squirrel 1 signing out 🐿️🎭🥹 taken in The Swamp by @pricemicaiah

Your Marian Paroo signing out 🩷

I never saw how beautiful a team could be till there was you all-
As I leave this chapter of my life, I leave not with an empty feeling this year or a pit in my stomach. This year, Louisville had the chance to show the world how amazing theatre is at Norfolk. We were finally able to give it our all on a stage that holds so many memories. We were able to do it for the seniors, alumni, our community, and our amazing coaches. We were finally able to walk out as your 2025 Class B state runner ups.
This year, I was beyond blessed with the opportunity to play Marian Paroo in the Music Man. This has been one of the greatest excitements to start my acting career. I was able to step up as an individual, grow with my team, and grow as an actor. For Louisville One Act of 2025, I was blessed with a cast and crew of 84 students and our 5 wonderful coaches. It’s been quite an honor to watch every single person grow at every single rehearsal and it’s been more than an honor to work beside such hard working people.
As I walk out this year, I’m letting go but holding on to the things that mean most. I have to thank my community. The amount of support that has been put in to costumes, breakfasts, and packed houses has been overwhelmingly amazing. I have to thank the seniors. The seniors this year have truly impacted every single person who steps into the auditorium. Lastly, but not least, I have to thank my coaches. The countless hours that they have all poured into this wonderful production are something words can’t describe.
So for now, Marian takes her break from the stage and the ghost light will go back on until next year 🤍
