I’m so grateful to have been invited to join the jury of another film festival in the UK.

After years of studying and working with gender and queer cinema, it feels especially rewarding to judge categories connected to these themes and discover more artists and their incredible work.

I’m honoured to be part of the PRIFF jury this year, and I can’t wait to join you all very soon! by @priffuk

How do you move a film from an idea on the page to something that can actually be made?

That's the question at the heart of "Finding Funding" - a PRIFF panel for emerging filmmakers ready to take their next project further.

Hear from:
→ Christian Parton, founder of Genera Films
→ Mustapha Wehbi, Head of Short Form at Slick Films
→ Naomi Rhodes, BFI NETWORK Coordinator
→ Moderated by producer Chris Lau

Story, vision, budgets, pitches - what actually makes a funding application stand out, straight from the people who assess them.

13 November 2026 | 2:00 - 3:30pm
Proposition Studios, Bethnal Green

Meet Team Kubrick, the jury group judging Best of the Fest this year.

Best of the Fest brings together the films that have made the strongest impression across this year’s PRIFF programme, celebrating the work that stands out for its originality, craft and ability to connect with an audience.

Team Kubrick brings experience across acting, directing, screenwriting, producing, production management, festival programming, photography, film criticism and digital media. The group includes award-winning filmmakers, producers and creative practitioners, alongside film and television presenters who have interviewed some of the industry’s most recognised filmmakers and actors, and professionals with experience working across the BBC, Sony, Universal, Amazon Prime and Sky.

The jury is led by Mariame N’Diaye, whose short film Sira won Best of the Fest at PRIFF 2025. She returns this year as Jury President, alongside a group bringing a broad range of creative and industry perspectives to the festival’s top honour.

Welcome aboard, Team Kubrick.

Meet Team Nolan, the jury group judging Best Short Film, Best Short Film Director, Best British Director, Best British Short Film and Best Screenplay across our short film categories this year.

Short filmmaking demands precision. With limited running time, every creative decision has to work harder, from the structure of the screenplay and clarity of the direction to the performances, visual language and overall cohesion of the finished film. These categories recognise both the individual craft behind a short and the strength of the film as a complete piece of storytelling.

Together, Team Nolan brings experience across writing, directing, acting, producing, documentary, visual effects and independent filmmaking. Their collective work includes films screened at Tribeca, Sheffield DocFest, HollyShorts, Aesthetica and other BAFTA, BIFA and Academy Award-qualifying festivals, alongside credits spanning Netflix, HBO, Amazon, BBC and Sky, and award-winning work seen at more than 200 festivals worldwide.

Across the group, they bring a strong understanding of short-form storytelling, direction, screenplay craft, performance, visual storytelling and the particular discipline required to make a short film feel complete, distinctive and memorable.

Welcome aboard, Team Nolan.

Meet Team Scorsese, the jury group judging Best Feature Film, Best Feature Director and Best Feature Screenplay this year.

Feature filmmaking asks filmmakers to sustain story, character, tone and vision over a much broader canvas. From the architecture of the screenplay, to the clarity of the direction, to the way every creative element comes together in the finished film, these categories recognise the craft required to hold an audience across a full-length work.

Together, Team Scorsese brings experience across writing, directing, producing, narrative design, animation, immersive storytelling and independent feature development. Their collective work includes Academy Award-nominated and European Film Award-winning shorts, BAFTA-winning and BIFA-nominated productions, Berlinale Talents, Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying festival selections, and feature projects developed across live action, animation, television, games and VR.

Across the group, they bring a strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, feature development, screenplay structure, directing performance and building ambitious projects from concept through to finished work.

Welcome aboard, Team Scorsese.

Meet Team Lubezki, the jury group judging Best Cinematography this year.

Cinematography is one of the defining languages of film. It shapes how we see a story, how we experience space, movement and performance, and how light, composition and camera choices can completely alter the emotional impact of a scene.

Team Lubezki is made up entirely of cinematographers, bringing experience across feature films, television, documentaries, shorts, commercials, music videos, animation and both film and digital formats. Their collective work has screened and received recognition at festivals including Cannes, Berlinale, Sundance and Camerimage, with experience spanning naturalistic drama, technically complex productions, VFX and LED environments, 16mm filmmaking and specialist camera systems.

Across the group, they bring a deep understanding of visual storytelling, lighting, composition, camera movement, texture and the relationship between cinematography and performance.

Welcome aboard, Team Lubezki.
