Long weekend! Saw “The Invite” @thebioscope, went to @rodiziomelrosearch for a yummy fun dinner with my beautiful neighbours, @rosefestival2026 on Sunday for amazing SA artists, lunch @fishmonger_rosebank, and now watching Downton Abbey and cuddling Evie and Pepper! Best start to the holiday by @prihollis

I had the most wonderful time last night @themadamezingara with my talented, kind, beautiful friend @bronwen_kerry ✨Delicious food, death defying performances that literally took our breaths away, so many belly laughs and very worth it sore feet from dancing in heels! What an amazing experience with the bestest person ❤️ by @prihollis

My mom passed away last month.

A few months before she died, she was outside painting the stone ducks in her garden when she suddenly called out, completely seriously, “Do ducks have three legs?”

It became one of those family jokes that never got old. We teased her about it endlessly, and she laughed harder than anyone.

So I had this drawing commissioned from @gwarrener.fineart : a duck with three legs.

I picked it up from the framer today and ran into someone I know. He asked to see the picture and immediately said, “It’s missing a leg.”

I had to explain that it actually has an EXTRA leg because ducks have two legs.

Now I’m not entirely convinced he knows how many legs ducks have either.

The duck now lives on my fridge. Every time I open the door, I’ll think of my mom and smile.

Grief isn’t linear, but day by day I’m finding my way through it. Just some of the incredibly thoughtful gifts I’ve received from pupils and friends during this difficult time — excluding the soul-refilling hugs too. Ridiculously grateful 🥲 by @prihollis

My beautiful Mom passed away peacefully at home this morning, surrounded by love.

Cancer may have taken her body, but it never took her spirit, her intelligence, her style, her strength, her warmth, her fierce individuality or her love of beauty and colour. She remained deeply herself until the very end.

The past months were incredibly difficult, but also strangely sacred. I got to care for her, live with her, laugh with her, hold her hand, witness her softness, her courage, her vulnerability and her humanity in ways I will carry with me forever.

She was complicated, vibrant, funny, emotional, loving, strong-willed and unforgettable. I loved all of her.

I am heartbroken, relieved that her suffering is over, and profoundly grateful that she was able to leave this world peacefully, at home, exactly as she wanted.

Thank you to every nurse, doctor, friend and family member who showed her kindness and care through this journey.

Rest now, Mom. You were deeply loved. ❤️ by @prihollis

Skin treatments with the best neighbour ever @mrvanitysmurf. Been having a horrible stress breakout and feeling a bit ergh. I feel so much better after this fun afternoon with treats, pizza, tarot, Prosecco and the most amazing, kind people by @prihollis
