Earlier this year on January 17th after a long on and off battle with cancer my dad passed away. Never really experiencing death in my life, I didn’t know how to properly process his passing. Confused and shocked by the situation I didn’t know what to do, but try to be the happy go lucky person I am and chose to keep a positive attitude towards life. The two weeks leading up to my dads funeral felt like an eternity. Between planning funeral arrangements and seeing those most closest to me stress and go through so much pain was one of the hardest things to witness; but once again I choose to stay strong for those I loved. You never really get over the passing of someone so close to you no matter how hard you try. But even though you are no longer here with us, I wanna let you know you will forever and always be in my memories, my thoughts, and my prayers. I truly am so grateful for everything you have done for me, and everything you have sacrificed for our family. All those stories you would tell me in the car when you were back in Africa and showing me around town and how you would get to and from work when you first came to America, even the times you would talk about Abie and mommy to me in your car and I will especially cherish all the times we’ve spent together. I feel God purposely allowed us to spend majority of your last month together, and I thank God everyday for doing so. I wanna wish you a Happy Father’s Day and let you know that I will forever and always love you no matter where you are.
I also wanna wish a Happy Fathers Day to my step-dad Brima Conteh, from the time we met you have always treated as your son. You help me become the man I am today with the help of my mom and dad and showed me how great I am. I am honestly blessed having you in my life and I thank God everyday for everything you have done for me. Even though my dad may not be here on this earth anymore, I am so thankful having you as my dad here on earth, I love you. by @prime.pt
