👣 Parkinson’s: do your feet sometimes feel “stuck” to the floor?

This is called freezing of gait. These three strategies may help:

✅ Clear walking paths of clutter and loose rugs.
✅ Use a flat, securely fixed visual line as a stepping cue.
✅ Count “1, 2… 1, 2…” to give your steps a steady rhythm, without rushing.

Different strategies work for different people. A physiotherapy professional can help you find what suits you.

❄️ ONE FALL CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING! ⚠️

Winter can be dangerous for seniors, especially when stairs and walkways are covered in snow and ice.

But a few simple precautions can make a BIG difference! 💙

✅ 1. INSTALL HANDRAILS
A sturdy handrail provides essential support when using stairs.

✅ 2. ADD NON-SLIP STAIR TREADS
Improve traction on outdoor steps and reduce slipping hazards.

✅ 3. REMOVE SNOW & ICE
Keep walkways clear and use appropriate de-icing products.

✅ 4. WEAR ICE CLEATS
Ice grips on winter boots can improve traction on slippery surfaces.

✅ 5. ADD AN ICE TIP TO YOUR CANE
A properly installed ice grip can provide additional traction outdoors.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Remove or disengage metal ice grips before walking on indoor floors.

💡 BONUS TIP:
Take your time, use the handrail, and never rush on icy stairs!

❤️ Staying active is important. Staying safe is essential.
