Dad,

I don’t even know what to say except that I love you so much. Words can’t express the pain of losing you or how much you meant to me. You brought so much joy, love, and strength into my life, more than you’ll ever know. I’m going to miss you every single day for the rest of my life. My heart is broken, and even though I knew this day would eventually come, nothing could have prepared me for it. Today, I want to honor the incredible man you were.

We made it to your birthday, and we made it to Father’s Day. I’ll always remember the day before Father’s Day when you looked at me and said, “Beau, you’re my hero.” Those words will stay with me forever. In that moment, I realized you saw how much I loved you. You saw every night I spent sitting beside your hospital bed, every prayer, every tear, and every moment I refused to leave your side. You saw my strength, but the truth is, you were always my hero. You taught me what it means to fight, to love your family, and to never give up.

I’m so thankful I got to see you yesterday. Looking back, I know God gave me one last chance to tell you I love you before He called you home. After fighting bladder cancer for three long years, you never stopped fighting. You showed courage until your very last breath. That battle is over now. You’re free from the pain, free from the suffering, and finally at peace.

Dad, thank you for every lesson, every laugh, every sacrifice, and every memory we shared. Thank you for believing in me, loving me, and helping shape me into the man I am becoming. I promise I’ll carry your love, your strength, and your memory with me for the rest of my life. I’ll keep making you proud.

I love you more than words will ever be able to say.

When you’re in those dark days, it feels like everyone notices every mistake, every setback, everything you’ve lost.
