You can say this project is a self portrait, as a birthday gift to myself. My last session last week before surgery, I was told that I need to love myself more. I was going to post this on my main art page, but this is fitting.

Yes, the past over half year has been difficult, especially like I mentioned with Health, relationships, and work, but I think I lost focus on myself. It sucks that my closest friends are not here and my family is in the opposite side of the country, but I failed to remember that I am here for me. it was truly lonely around the holidays, you know seasonal depression, but I’m glad that im still here.

I’m so thankful for the new friends that I’ve met and friend who’s been more involved in my life because literally she’s held me above the water, but now knowing I have this full support, I need to help myself. I can try to find new relationships, but I’d rather have quality of a quantity and it’s hard to find quality friends so thank you for those who are there for me constantly even without me knowing. My therapist even said loneliness is a root cause of depression, but I guess I just needed to search and open my Asian eyes a little larger lol.

I won’t dive too deep, but I’m glad I created this for myself. The constellation is reminiscent of a phoenix rising from the ashes. Saturn is the grounding aspect of my planets I guess or whatever you wanna call it lol you know horoscopes. And the comet is for wishes and dreams.
