Slow Motion… hard to put into words, so I will keep it simple and relatively ambiguous.

With any family there will always be disagreements, arguments, or better put, misunderstandings. At the end of it all, LOVE is the guide that drives us to stretch beyond our means… LOVE makes us all want the best outcome… and LOVE is the best way to describe any of what occurred this past weekend with this crew and everyone in attendance.

These words BARELY capture the feeling I’m trying to convey. These photos BARELY (not even close) capture the feelings felt. I feel like I saw everything AND nothing in the blink of an eye, but I know what my heart feels.

Howdy homies… happy Monday! There are MANY magical times in New York, but two personal favorites are when the city starts to come alive after a long, hard Winter… You start to see signs of Spring; leaves budding and flowers starting to color the concrete wonderland… the energy transforms across all walks of life.

My second favorite is the crisp air that starts to breeze through the open windows as the Fall starts making its way into our lives. The trips to the beach on a sunny, chilly day is East Coast perfection. The color of the city changes once again and just as quickly as it comes, it goes.

Seasonal changes, peaks and valleys, ups and downs. A cycle that helps regulate this thing called life.

Music remains constant through the change and I often visit specific albums in different seasons because they tend to feel out of place if forced into the wrong act of the play.

We often paint pictures to tell a story. Some use a brush, others use a guitar, and others their voice. I blabber too often about how important so much of this is to me, but I say it from a place of love and a desire to share time with my found family.

All that said, I finally publicly posted the live recording from @mus.ic.land in June. It’s a weird way to get to that, but the same sentiment mentioned above is always taken into consideration when trying to “paint a picture” that we can collectively create together.

Last time I played @mus.ic.land I gushed about how important it has been to me since moving back to New York last year (still is). This time I will gush about @fatik_ and how his approach to this world may not be for everyone, but it speaks directly to me on many different levels.

For context, a lot of people know me from my open format / party rocking days with The Rub, former residencies in Texas, or touring around the country at the height of the blog era. The approach was always ENERGY, by any means necessary. It was fun, but rarely fulfilling.... however, it made sense in the spaces I was playing.

I was recently reminded of meeting Fede in that period, closer to 20 years ago at this point, which is crazy to say, but it wasn’t until these last few years we’ve grown closer in friendship. He has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life, constantly shared some amazing music, and somehow always finds the perfect thing to say in his very unique way... a real homie and someone I would consider to be beyond my found family at this point.

Going back to the aforementioned ENERGY I constantly try and seek on the dancefloor. His approach to this has unlocked deeper and deeper levels for me personally that have been VERY inspiring. The overarching theme is patience and the subplot is subtlety, but the takeaway is pure and thoughtful with a heavy squeeze of LET’S FUCKING GO. The kind of unsuspecting recipe that very few will ever be able to attain... He is a master of the craft and I will die on that hill.

Tonight we play together for the first time ever.
