Hello interweb family and community. 🌍💕
This year I am holding the 6th annual Holiday Heart Challenge. If you are new to this page, the holiday heart challenge is an act of service/labor of love that calls on community to show up for our unhoused neighbors during the holiday season. Each year I ask you, the people, to show up in anyway that you can, big or small in supporting our neighbors who have been displaced and fallen on hard times. Do you have an extra jacket that you don’t wear? Shoes that you don’t use? A blanket? A few spare dollars? Toiletries? All of those things go a long way and can make a huge impact for folks out on the streets. Go out of your way to ask someone what they need and if you can spare it give it. This year I will continue the tradition that I have created to honor my ancestors, who did this work long before me in feeding our kin that are out in the cold. I will be preparing hot meals and distributing them in the streets of Oakland. Each year we distribute between 200-350 hot meals. We are seeking volunteers and donations to make this effort happen. Please dm me if you are interested in supporting us this year!

We reached our post surgery recovery fund goal. Tomorrow morning is my procedure! Thank you to each and everyone of you from the depths of my heart chamber. I feel so incredibly grateful and grounded and prepared. I feel so loved and cared for and ready to do this. Thank you thank you thank you again. Hey everyone! BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! I’m having surgery in 3 weeks to finally get my fibroids removed. This has been a long time coming and a 7/8 year process. In the last year my fibroids have caused multiple health scares and issues with my bladder and colon as that is what they are sitting and pressing against. It’s time to let these babies go. Im doing so I will also be able to carry children of my own. This is a big moment for me and I need folks help to get through my recovery.

We have been able to grow our community in a really beautiful and sacred way. Y’all have really showed up and blessed the space time and time again and I just want to personally say how grateful I am to be a part of this community and to have this space to pour into. Vipassana meditation and the will to face my depths changed my life, many deep wounds from my past have been released and no longer weigh me down. After 7 years I am able to finally share my truth about being assaulted in the SF predominantly white queer community. No more being silenced, no more living in fear, no more pretending. The joy I have found in facing and sitting in my pain has moved mountains for me. I hope that me sharing my experience allows for others to do the same and/or just feel seen and know that they are not alone. I love you all.

Nina Sol, a nod to her Afro-Latina heritage & warm and sunshiny disposition, delivers a genre-bending soulful sound that resonates with audiences locally and across the globe. A vinyl enthusiast that traverses time and texture, Nina’s insatiable curiosity for music discovering keeps her sets fresh and unexpected. Currently based in Oakland, Nina holds monthly residencies at Constellations, a party dedicated to past and present artists born under the zodiac sign of the month, and Elements throwing down underground dance music alongside soulful house DJ veteran, Patrick Wilson. She has played with artists including DJ Spinna, Solange, Rich Medina, Natasha Diggs, Pete Rock, Moodymann, Jose James, Bugz in the Attic, and many others.
