Relief class’s critique for Project 3: The Floating World - Ukiyo 🌎 The Moku Hanga process involves woodblock reduction carving and using water-based ink brushed on the block, then hand printed. Everyone did an amazing job!! 😍👏🏻 by @print_at_iu

BFA printmaking student Suejin Ko offers a peek at her artwork being shown in multiple exhibitions at the Eskenazi School this spring.Ko’s work seeks to “reclaim Korean culture in a Midwestern environment.” Born and raised in the Midwest, she explores cultural and personal identity in her installation “Silhouettes of Belonging” for the BFA thesis show at the Grunwald Gallery, as well as the one of two exhibitions at the Tangent Gallery called “Across the Fold.”Ko draws inspiration for her thesis from the traditional Korean dress known as the Hanbok. She integrates traditional Korean patterns and Midwestern landscape scenes to recreate two prints of her dresses.Ko also pursues the investigation of her cultural identity in the creative exchange exhibition “Across the Fold,” which will be on view in student-run Tangent gallery. The two exhibitions “Across the Fold” and “Shared Surfaces” showcase the products of creative exchange in which Ko and other students and IU printmaking alumni explored the media of book arts and lithography with students at the University of Arts London, University of Brighton, and the University of West of England (Bristol). There will be an opening reception for “Across the Fold” and “Shared Surfaces” on March 27 from 6:00PM-8:00PM, while the BFA thesis show will be on view beginning April 24.For a more in-depth look into Ko’s work, clink the link in our bio. @iucollege @iubloomington by @print_at_iu

The Tangent Gallery is excited to announce Across the Fold & Shared Surfaces! Both shows emphasize a collaborative, creative exchange between the IU printmaking area, University of the Arts London, and University of West of England — Bristol. These exhibits will be on view throughout the month of March with a closing reception March 27th from 6-8PM. We hope to see you there! Traveling exhibitions, Across the Fold & Shared Surfaces are now up in Tangent Gallery!!! 😍🙈 Both exhbitions are a collaborative collection with UWE Bristol, University of the Arts of London, and Indiana University Bloomington, featuring BFA & MFA students alongside alumni!!! 🙌🏻 Open hours for viewing are on the bottom of the flyer, with the reception being on March 27 @ Fine Arts Rm 104-105, from 6-8pm!!! Silkscreen’s Project 2: Posterization and Hand-drawn Films - Students made their way into the darkroom for their first round of photoemulsion of the semester. Films were created using both posterization and digital printing as well as hand-drawn imagery on vellum. They really pushed the process with some students printing as many as 8 layers! 🙌🏻🙌🏻⭐️😮‍💨 by @print_at_iu

Silkscreen students visited the Lilly Library to explore options of halftone patterns, color layering, and use of CMYK in printmaking. From punk rock zines to vintage comics to wearable art, the objects on display were selected to represent the wide variety of possibilities with halftone patterns as students determine how to utilize it for their own projects in the class. Much thanks to the Lilly Library staff for assisting in the curation and facilitation of this class visit! @iulillylibrary by @print_at_iu

The Silkscreen class’s first critique! 😍 They were asked to utilize two different stencil techniques (Drawing Fluid/Screen Filler & Contact Stencils) to create editions on the topic of Tangible and Intangible surfaces. Good job everyone!! 🙌🏻 by @print_at_iu
