New painting -
Acrylic + enamel on cradled wood canvas.
28cm x 36cm.

Made with a few things in mind; movement, values, intuitive reactions. Making work by hand versus technological artificial predicted prompts.

I'm also continuing my research into the connections between painting & printmaking.
I will be making prints that relate to these paintings.

Detail of new painting / WIP.
Acrylic on cradled wood.

Painting always gives me more questions than answers.
I prefer not to work/rework for too long as I feel it can lose its energy.

Testing a new alternative approach to woodcut printing. Drawing directly from life, then cutting those first marks.
Will print the results on press tomorrow.

Process work.
Lino block with graphite. 10cm x 14.5cm.

I've been wanting to make relief prints from direct observation. This is a drawing on linoleum from the coastline of Bangor.
I used the black screen of my phone to make the drawing from because when I carve and print the block, it will produce a mirror image.
I want to capture my first hand impressions instead of going through more processes.

Found some work from university. Made on etching press at Ulster University around 2011.

Collograph. 57cm x 80cm.
Fabriano paper.
Self portrait.

This was a large test print where I wanted to find the key tones. Using different processes and materials to create a collograph. Such as yacht varnish, glue, sand paper, dremel tools, scalpels etc
