This Miss Hippopotamus had a cancer scare (still pending labs) and is down 30% of an eye. But she's back to her normal clumsy, dramatic antics so she's earned some digital adornments and extra neighborhood walkies. by @priscillaqueenofthecastro

What a week. A growing skin tag on my velvet hippo’s eyelid warranted a vet visit last Friday. That quickly progressed to an optho specialist visit Monday as it was growing internally too, concerning for melanoma. $8,000 worth of tests ruling out cancer spread (phew) and an urgent surgery today, my baby now has one baby eye. 30% smaller, but hopefully cancer free. Pathology results next week will tell.

This little water buffalo mixed with a ham sandwich is dealing with her first health issue. What appeared to be a skin tag on her eyelid is looking much more like melanoma per an optho specialist—the severity currently unknown. Thursday, the surgeon willl remove it and biopsy, along with neck lymph node they biopsied today.
