I’m Pritee — I paint water, waves, and slow moments in watercolor.

For over two decades, I worked in finance. Life was structured, busy, and full — but something was always pulling me toward color, paper, and quiet flow.

Watercolor became my way back.
It taught me patience, presence, and how to trust the process — especially when things don’t go as planned (because water always has a mind of its own).

Today, I paint and teach watercolor for anyone who wants to loosen up, enjoy the process, and create without pressure.
No perfection. Just flow.

We all start somewhere. I started at the age of 40 without any plan !
No idea what I was doing.
Just curiosity.

My first painting wasn’t good.
But I remember how it felt .. fun at first and quiet, calming as I continued to play with the colors. like I had found something I didn’t even know I needed.

And somehow… that small moment turned into everything.

Here’s the trick no one tells you about painting glowing waves…

It’s not about adding more detail — it’s about what you leave out.

✨ Try this:
🌊Start with a warm yellow wash on wet paper.
🌊Drop in dark horizontal strokes while the surface is still damp.
🌊Don’t overblend — let the water do the softening.
🌊Leave broken lines to mimic light on water. That’s the glow.
🌊 Deepen the shadows for a few waves.
🌊 use diluted indigo for waves in the center to keep the glow.

Minimal strokes = maximum impact 🌅
🎨 Indigo + Yellow (Indian yellow /Naples yellow red) combo here.

Watch how Ultramarine Blue + Sunset peach blend into a magical sky !!

You don’t need a big palette, just permission to feel while you paint.

Pro tip:
Wet in wet for soft blends
Tilt the paper for smooth gradient sky

This week’s reference is a seascape, photo by Sanjeevan Satheeskumar on Unsplash. This reference has most beautiful glow of summer sunshine and the lush green landscape ! The bright green is not my favorite color to paint with and that’s why I wanted to challenge myself with this reference and still make it mine in a softer more natural style.
