Had the great pleasure of lending a hand to @jodrell_games for their first TTRPG: W@NK HARD (a solo game, naturally enough).

I spent WAY too much time playtesting it, I was having so much fun. And my face still hurts from laughing.

It takes 10-15 mins to play - longer if you journal it, for which there are some hilarious prompts.

Dungeon Cynth TTRPG got a nice write up in this week’s Critical Hit Parader newsletter by musical historian Matt Thompson. It was great to see @blades_of_folmar and @sokol_keep_ds in there, and you can read it over on Substack at https://criticalhitparader.substack.com (the July 1 issue).

Critical Hit Parader “provides weekly content on the intersection of music and tabletop roleplaying games”, so I highly recommend it. It’s put me on to a lot of music, old and new, in a variety of genres. Plus album art and artists. Plus games.

Dungeon Cynth is now out on itch and Bandcamp! See link in bio for itch; for Bandcamp check out @sokol_keep_ds

The game is a “fun-dark” solo TTRPG about finishing your dungeon synth album before Khothor the Wastelayer manifests and destroys the world (your fault btw). The album is key. Saving the world is optional.

The rules include prompts for playing Dungeon Cynth as a solo journalling game, and downloads include a b&w printer-friendly version of the rules (text only) + pdfs of the rules on a J-card (see below) with stunning artwork by @doriana7dream + a haunting & immersive dungeon-synth soundtrack, The Coming of Khothor, by the mighty @blades_of_folmar (10 tracks, approx. 48 mins in total).

I hope to crowdfund physical copies of Dungeon Cynth in a dedicated zine format, along with a character sheet and standees, in the near future.

Hails to the playtesters: Sophie, Pete Z, DX, and Rufus.

And my eternal gratitude to @sokol_keep_ds for producing the album soundtrack* & bringing this project together, and @blades_of_folmar for composing such a masterpiece ⚔️

I’ve largely neglected my own projects, recently, to work on other people’s TTRPGs. I often get asked to help with copy-editing & proofreading, which can be a task and a half, but means I get to delve deep inside a game’s system and setting. I see and learn new stuff, and I put all the XP gained towards my own efforts.

One solo/co-op game I have the privilege of being involved with right now is GAMMA EMERGENT, “an immersive, rules-light, resource-heavy TTRPG for wanderers of the post-apocalyptic wastes,” by my good friend at Pitiless as Bronze Productions.

It’s currently being play-tested and is a blast. (Swipe to take a peek at some of the artwork.) If you want to join in the fun, download a free preview of the game from DriveThruRPG. You can also join Pitiless as Bronze’s Discord server, where there are spaces open in a couple of PBM campaigns.

Four new micro solo TTRPGs are now up on itch.io: Pocket Poppet, Quercus, Omega, and Row from R’lyeh.

Think voodoo doll, oak-life, doomsday, and Cthulhu.

They’re all free/PWYW to download - just follow the link in my bio.

I created them as submissions for the recent 48-word RPG Jam, and three of them represent my first go at doing the graphic design/layout myself. Not so much a steep learning curve as a sheer cliff face with few handholds and no rope…

They weren’t what I expected to publish first, but the 2025 TTRPG Bookmark Jam prompted a burst of bookmark mania! 📖📖📖
