No one should ever make souvenirs and keepsakes by forgetting the readers. Yes, that's the rule -- no one should forget readers because they're the best!

My most favourite version of the Starry Night for all those who can't resist the smell and feel of books- ANTIQUE BOOKMARKS. ❤️

Every batch surprises me in some way I don’t expect, and this one here with a bunch of folks did it too, for the profession they are all in, and all of them coming together for the same session- a gynaecologist, a paediatrician who specialises in children with genetic disorders, a special needs educator, a physiotherapist, and a psychologist.

And do you know what was more surprising?

Four out of five of them had practised embroidery a long time ago. And they still wanted to make time for this craft years later, in their super-busy lives. The feeling I get when I see those who have picked this craft a long time ago before me, who then dropped it somewhere, but wanting to connect back with it years later humbles me from time to time. 😊

And I realise that the discoveries and gifts I’ve found through practising this craft are immense and irreplaceable. Starting with strangers who become friends, friends who turned family: the people that came looking for us and our craft and the connections we made through it that sailed us through seasons of life.

It also me also think, those who have given this craft a deeply-passionate try and fell in love with it will any day want to go back to it. :)

Shoutout to one of my favourite artisans @atmashray.life who does a round the clock job at staying an original from the time I’ve known him. I love everything he makes and would love all my people who have a genuine love for local crafts have his wearables. 😊

His artistry of picking these lucky red seeds from his own yard and crafting these entirely sustainable pretty pieces simply inspires. ❤️

When I put out a post in June of a set of embroidery pendants made out of the travel photos of someone special, a few of you reached out and asked if I’d make those pieces again. I had to turn down those requests because it was not a commissioned work and there was something so unique to the story behind those pictures - a person experiencing the world, seeing and feeling in his own way. Sharing it with someone they love. And how it finally came into form as little pieces.

And ‘me being me’ also means being oddly particular about never wanting to repeat some things majorly for reasons like keeping certain things sacred. Still, I was deeply moved by the value of how much those creations might have moved few of you to want them made again to carry. ❤️

But during the same time, Alaka reached out too, asking if I can make something as a memory of her Varanasi trip. She didn’t have photos as such, just a video and screen grabs from the bits compiled together.

To take up the order, I was quite unsure of whether the piece would come out well because the screen grabs were seemingly complicated for me to say anything with certainty about the outcome. So, I told her that I will make one, show it, and then she could pay if she likes it. That way, I excused myself from an anticipated failure from an artist they might have had a good impression of (says who? My overly critical brain). So just like that, I took the first commission in 8 years of my journey with art without an initial payment. It’s humbling as well as reassuring, after you see what trust can do.

The pendant turned out pretty decent. 😊

I don’t know if I can explain the joy of realising that I’ve reached the point reclaiming some self-trust again, that we often doubt if we have, while working on a piece with a decent amount of uncertainty. And it is a wonderful feeling when you see that trust lands somewhere right in someone’s heart as a memory and watch it change shape into something even more precious. Quite transactional, in a good way. 😊

Anyway, I am waiting to see her in this piece :)))

I have decided that I am going to make this space my creative outlet. Writing, creating, experimenting, whatever I can.✊ So here we go!

This beautiful handmade pendant came from one of my dearest friends @priya_sreekumar, who’s been creating art that carries so much heart (killing it!!!). She gave me this and tucked inside was the sweetest handwritten note that somehow made the gift even more special.

Now, many people have already stopped me to ask, *”Where is this from?” whenever I wore this. ❤️

So, If this pendant speaks to you the way it spoke to me, you should absolutely check out her work. Every piece feels personal, intentional, and made with love. 🤍 Trust me, these pictures doesn’t do justice to the beauty of it. My bad.

Here’s to celebrating artists who pour a little bit of themselves into everything they create.:)))
