Pro Cricket Academies it’s always very pleasing to see players do well that you have done a lot of work with.

Jamie Crawley got a 💯 at Lord’s last week for Scotland A against the MCC. This will hopefully enhance his chances to be selected for the World Cup.

This video shows his skills being put under pressure with narrow bat training.

Head Coach Brad Donelan gives an insight into how he develops his players with a 1to1 session with Jamie Crawley.
1 - using his feet to spin. Looking at body shape and the processes we use.
2 - Back foot punch - off the boards ball being thrown from 11 yards away to increase speed & reaction time.
3 - Taking on the short ball - off the boards ball being thrown from 11yards away to increase speed & reaction time. Also tests the players courage.

Great night at Old Trafford on Monday night watching Lancs v Notts. Great to catch up with my old team mate Peter Moores and his son Tom. Pete coaches Notts and was coach of the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash for the last two years.
Great to see another Moore’s playing for Lancashire Joe. A real talent at the tender age of 17yrs and a record breaker as the youngest player to represent Lancashire in a T20. Not the outcome Pete and Notts wanted but Lancs played very well.

It’s always nice going back to Old Trafford as it holds a special memory for me as it’s where I got my 100th first class wicket ❤️

All in all a great evening out with the Neston lads.

Great to see these two this week. Both got fifty for Calday Grammar school last week and shared a partnership of 90. Sam 2nd and Freddies first 50.

When you work with young players what should we be looking at and how can we assist them as they navigate county selection.

Technical Skills
Batting Technique
Bowling Skills
Fielding Ability
Physical Attributes
Mental Toughness
Attitude and Character
Coachability
Performance Consistency
Adaptability

Conclusion
From my experience working with young cricketers, a holistic approach that considers both technical skills and personal attributes will yield the best results. Prioritizing mental and physical preparation, alongside a strong attitude, will help in nurturing talent effectively.

Great to see Charlie Clarke (Worcestershire CCC pathway & Oxton CC) having a great start to the season. Two 💯 for Oxton CC 2nd XI. I have worked with him for 3 years now and he has put the hard yards in. He also came out to our training camp in India in 2024.

The first clips show his hands and bat path heading towards extra cover so he was essentially playing across the line of the ball.

The later clips show him working on his hands and bat path coming down much straighter to the line of the ball.

India Tour
One of the great things at touring India is to witness the talent they have in offer. @shivam.Singh.27 a boy with a dream. He has 100 💯 to his name these clips you can see why. Balance, footwork, timing and a 360 batter.
Comment below on your thoughts. I particularly like the second clip. How many batters do you know who would have hit that ball a foot outside leg through extra cover?

Want to tour India with us in April 2027 DM me now for more information.

High Performance Training Camp 2026

Death bowling:

The art of delivering effective overs in the final stages of a limited-overs cricket match, plays a crucial role in determining the outcome of games. As the match nears its conclusion, batsmen tend to adopt aggressive tactics to maximise runs, making it imperative for bowlers to excel under pressure.

Key Aspects of Death Bowling:

Psychological Pressure:
Bowlers need to maintain composure amidst the heightened stakes. The ability to execute plans and deliver consistently can demoralize batsmen, forcing them into mistakes.

Skill Variety:
Effective death bowlers often employ a range of deliveries, including yorkers, slower balls, and bouncers. Mastery of these variations keeps batsmen guessing and minimizes scoring opportunities.

Strategic Placement:
Bowling in the death overs requires precise placement. Targeting the blockhole with yorkers or bowling wide outside off-stump can disrupt a batsman’s rhythm and prevent easy boundaries.

Fielding Support:
Good field placements complement death bowling. Strategically positioned fielders can intercept powerful shots, making it easier for bowlers to contain runs and take wickets.

Game-Changing Moments:
A skilled death bowler can turn the tide of a match. Taking wickets or restricting runs during these critical overs can swing the momentum, enabling the bowling team to gain an advantage.

In summary, death bowling is a specialized skill that not only demands technical proficiency but also mental fortitude. It can significantly influence a match’s outcome, making it a focal point for teams aiming for success in limited-overs formats. As the dynamics of the game have evolved, the importance of having a reliable death bowler in the lineup has become undeniable. Teams that excel in this area often find themselves competing at the highest levels.

How do you think teams can train their bowlers to improve their death bowling skills? Comment below please.

PCA - India Tour 2026

Another great training camp to India our 6th in total and we have taken over 200 cricketers both boys & Girls on an adventure of a lifetime.
Our end of tour dinner is always well received as we blend into Indian culture.

The thing I like most about this tour is player development. Hitting 1,000 balls a day and training five hours a day including under floodlights they leave better cricketers.
The challenges of the net bowling, and the conditions and surfaces you encounter test your skill level to the limit.

If you are interested in our next High Performance Training Camp to India mention Tour in the comments and we will forward you more information.
