@prodectools Ice Fusion Gloss was the only mini roller out of all the cabinet grade options I tried that didn't shed at all. I tried all the ususal suspects available locally: valour, mohair, foam flock, and they all shed micro filaments that would probably go unnoticed if the finish wasn't get brushed out after the roll. The tip off removed excess paint and smoothed the texture enough that even foam flock left nearly microscopic hairs similar to tiny fiberglass hairs. The dark colour also made this a lot more noticeable.

I suspect the regular Ice Fusion mini roller would have worked well too, but the smaller nap of the Ice Fusion Gloss was especially important to me for going over all the pin holes on the side panels where I didn't want pint building up and dripping out afterwards.

These rollers seem especially suited to the @finepaintsofeurope product line, and any projects involving the roll on tip off method.

The field test is over, friends, and we have a winner! After bringing you along for the journey, it’s time for the unveiling. Two roller sizes. One door casing. One professional painter. Absolutely no script. 😂
Watch the 2-inch roller tackle narrow casing and detailed inlay, then see the 4-inch take over the wider sections. Listen to the loading, the movement and, best of all, the painter’s genuine reaction: “I literally cannot describe how buttery smooth these things are!” Followed by “This is genius, guys!” ❤️
WHAT DID WE TEST? Loading. Release. Precision. Finish. Fibre performance. Cleanup and reuse. We used the sleeves, cleaned them, let them air-dry and brought them back to work. In our testing, we saw no lint or loose fibres.

PRODEC ICE FUSION 4” | FIELD TEST #2

Day Two, and the roller came back. 👊

After the first field test, we cleaned the Ice Fusion sleeve, rinsed it, let it air dry and put it back to work one week later. No lint. No loose fibres. No loss of shape. Still beautifully soft and supple.

Before the second coat, we used dustless sanding with our DTS 400 to create the best possible testing surface. Then back to work.

And this is where things get interesting.

The 4” Ice Fusion is loading beautifully, releasing evenly and gliding effortlessly across this 50-year-old repurposed door. The surface is looking incredibly smooth.

But we’re not calling the test finished yet.

Loading. Release. Finish. Cleanup. Recovery. Repeat use.

Use it. Test it. Document it. Share what we learn.

The product can earn the conclusion.

PRODEC ICE FUSION 2” | FIELD TEST #2 🧪🎨

The first 2” Ice Fusion test got your attention.

Now we’re getting serious. 👊

We’re putting the same sleeve through a much more demanding PaintWerks test.

Why?

Because a professional roller isn’t judged by how it performs for five minutes straight out of the package.

We’re interested in what happens after the honeymoon. 😂

• Loading: How much primer does it hold?
• Release: How evenly does it put that material down?
• Finish: How smooth is the resulting film?
• Cleanup: How easily does it release the coating with warm water and mild soap?
• Recovery: Does the sleeve return to its original shape after cleaning and drying?
• Repeat use: Can it do it again? And again?
• Coating transition: How does it move from a conventional water-based primer into the Benjamin Moore ADVANCE® Waterborne Alkyd we’re concurrently field-testing?

And there’s one claim we’re particularly interested in.

Ready to use straight from the package.

No washing.

No lint removal.

No pre-conditioning.

For a professional crew, that’s not just convenient.

That’s efficiency.

We’re also deliberately repurposing this roughly 50-year-old door as our controlled testing surface, allowing us to repeatedly prepare, prime, sand and recoat while keeping the substrate consistent.

And watching this 2” Ice Fusion glide across that door?

Our painter’s words say it best:

“Beautifully soft and supple.”

We’re not going to tell you yet that it’s the best 2” roller we’ve ever used.

We’re going to make it earn that statement.

Use it.
Test it.
Document it.
Share what we learn.
