In a time of quick smartphone taps and frictionless interactions, the Magdalene offers a small sensory ritual. Cool and soft to the touch, the stone is the switch. This simple gesture slows the user down and connects their internal circuitry with the earth.

Inspired by depictions of Mary Magdalene with an alabaster jar, a symbol of luxury, the lamp reminds us that our time on this planet is the luxury. by @prodigal_studio

Launching my studio practice, @prodigal_studio during @somervilleopenstudios next weekend. Pop by May 2-3, 12-6pm at Vernon St Studios! Pro tip: Saturday @ 4pm I’ll be bartending ;)

I left my corporate job in August of last year to commit to freelancing design and developing this practice. It’s been a wild journey fraught with fear and self doubt, but I looking forward to continuing the work that ultimately fills the soul. Working across disciplines (sculpture, fashion, photography, design etc.) has been a blast but stock full of mistakes. Check out my failures and a few victories from the last few years. I’ll also have some art, books, and clothes for sale/swap.
