Interview with Lynz Music

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Nightshine's 'Waiting For You.' I wrote and produced it. It just crossed 800k streams! On his EP 'Everyone Wears A Mask,' I executive produced it and wrote several songs, and did the vocal mixing on every track but one.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Have 2-3 Reference tracks ready for me and a vocal melody, a lyric, or a session we can start from.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Started performing at age 12, became a studio nerd at 13, haven't stopped since...
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Owl City! He's the guy that got me interested in music and music production since he was so different and made everything himself on his laptop.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie Pop, Singer-songwriter, Hip Hop/Rnb
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Catchyness.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I dig deep into making songs catchy and having a strong professional sound. I love to make them come alive.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Clients give me their vision for their song and I soak it in deeply. I'll take whatever ideas they've given me and turn it into a final professional song ready for release.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I take their ideas and their vision for a piece of music and turn it into a reality.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Mixing. Mixing is the secret art of music. It's not just what you hear when you're done, but what you don't hear.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: All just tools.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My brain and a journal
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Owl City i.e. Adam Young has been my main influence for making music. I'm also really inspired by popular music and I listen to all sorts of genres. Favorites would be Adam Young, Death Cab for Cutie, Panic! At The Disco, The Killers, Betty Who
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Listening to before and after comparisons of songs after working on them. So inspiring.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who are your influences? Where do you want to take your music?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Whimsical, dreamy

hello world. i am lynz

i produce and mix for myself and other indies. a few of my personal inspirations include Owl City, Betty Who, The Killers, The Weeknd, and a broad range of 70s and 80s songwriters but I love all genres and working to fulfill the artists vision.

i pride myself on working with clients remotely so we both have the freedom and space we need to think through our ideas and on creating a safe space to express our selves.

i value the potential of each individual and their creativity no matter what stage you’re in. you could send me a crappy iPhone voice memo and i’ll turn around with a fully produced and mixed track ready for Spotify.

fun fact: did you know only 2% of producers are female? that’s crazy to me. so i guess i’m ‘rare’ LOL

Hi! I’m Lynz. 
I’m one of the 2% of rare female music producers. 
I studied the record-making process at Westlake Studio’s commercial music production academy in LA. (Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Rihanna)

I’m an artist too so I fully understand the process and how you feel and can help throughout the process.

Here are all the things we’re gonna do if we work together...

-We’ll discuss your vision for your music and get to know each other better!
- Live instrumentation from my collection of vintage analog synthesizers, guitars, and basses!
-Intricate drum programming using live drum sounds or synthesized samples.
-The time involved to do editing/polishing the tracks & tuning your vocals!
-The time it takes to mix everything together
-Mastering session to bring the song up to a commercial volume, ready for competitive release. People tend to assume quiet songs don’t sound as professional! 
Deliverables:
-All the files you need to upload to a distributor to reach all digital platforms. I recommend Distrokid! You can use my link to get a 7% discount :)
-Each track as stems, so you’ll have them for remixes!
-30 & 60-second versions of the song perfect for sync opportunities!
-A TV track (An instrumental with backing vocals for live performances),
-Acapella & Instrumental
-The final track!

If we wanted to outsource any outside musicians (live drums, horns, strings, etc.), we would just add their rates to the price.

Started learning how to produce when I was 12 because I was too shy to be around people in the studio while figuring out my artist sound and I was always helping other artists along the way. Would love to work with you too 🫶

A really beautiful cinematic song I produced mixed and mastered. This was a fun creative challenge and I really got to stretch myself creatively since I don’t normally make cinematic music. I got to use all of the knowledge I learned playing in an orchestra for like 10 years 🎻

I’m overjoyed to announce I’ve been accepted to join the Recording Academy’s 2026 New Member Class.

The Recording Academy changed my life by providing me with a full scholarship to GRAMMY CAMP in LA back in 2015, when I was in high school and couldn’t have afforded it otherwise. It was my first time being around creatives in person after teaching myself music production alone on the internet since age 12. GRAMMY CAMP inspired me to move out to LA from my hometown of Buffalo, NY just two years later.

And MusiCares provides life-saving financial assistance to creatives in need. I hope everyone in the industry knows about them.

I am so honored to be accepted and I’m so grateful to everyone I’ve met along the way.
