No. 1 in Florida 🔥 Top 3 in the U.S. Say less 🐾 Panthers, we’re setting the standard in hospitality education. #FIUHospitality is now ranked No. 3 among U.S. public programs, and No. 23 in the world in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, solidifying our place as the No. 1 program in Florida. That’s the #FIUHospitality standard, proving that innovation, industry connection, and real‑world experiences set us apart. 💙💛 by @prof.cheng
Please join us in celebrating @prof.cheng on his incredible achievement of being promoted to Full Professor at #FIUHospitality! 👏 So, what does it mean to be promoted to a Full Professor? It’s one of the highest academic ranks someone can achieve within a university. It signifies that a faculty member has achieved a high level of expertise and recognition in their field through substantial contributions in research, teaching, and service. Dr. Cheng is not only a trailblazer in his field but also the first Asian American Dean in the school’s history to reach this prestigious rank. His leadership, vision, and tireless contributions to the hospitality industry have earned him numerous accolades, including being named one of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in USA and Global Hospitality. Since becoming dean in 2017, Dr. Cheng has raised over $45 million for the endowment fund, secured $1.25 million in research grants, and authored groundbreaking academic work, cementing his legacy as a leader in hospitality education. We are proud to have him guiding the future of hospitality at @fiuinstagram. Congratulations, Dean Cheng! 🎉 by @prof.cheng
I never imagined being called a “legend.” Years ago, I was a young student from Malaysia, trying to find my place in the world. One professor believed in me, opened a door, and changed my life. ❤️ Receiving the @hsmaisfl Hospitality Legend of the Year award brought that journey full circle. To my wife, Laura, thank you for being my rock, my greatest supporter, and for loving the person behind the title. ❤️ To @diann.newman.3 , thank you for your friendship and partnership. To @rocco2844 , @fllcyclist , and @pgoldfarb1 , thank you for inspiring me and showing what true leadership looks like. To my @fiuhospitality family, our students, and HSMAI South Florida, thank you for making this journey so meaningful. This award may have my name on it, but so many people helped make it possible. Someone once opened a door for me. My greatest hope is to keep opening doors for others. 💙💛 #HSMAISouthFlorida #fiuhospitality #HospitalityLeadership #HospitalityEducation #FutureOfHospitality by @prof.cheng

FIU Wine Week brought together alumni, wine lovers and hospitality leaders for an evening celebrating wine, education and the Panther community. Held Monday at @fiuhospitality, the McKibbon ’75 Alumni Experience Wine Tasting & Pairing featured FIU hospitality alumnus and @bcellars Vineyards & Winery co-founder Duffy Keys ’75. Keys led an interactive B Cellars Wine Tasting & Pairing Masterclass, pairing curated wines with bites while sharing his journey from FIU hospitality student to Napa Valley vintner. The evening also spotlighted the Blue & Gold Wine Society, an exclusive partnership between the Chaplin School and B Cellars designed to create unique wine experiences, strengthen alumni connections and support future Panthers. The event highlighted FIU’s longstanding influence on the hospitality and wine industries, including the university’s role in the origins of the @sobewff. by @prof.cheng

FIU Hospitality is leading the way in bringing Hospitality Education to life. In a new @lodgingmagazine feature, our Dean, Michael Cheng (@prof.cheng), explores how universities are helping shape the future of the industry through research, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. #FIUHospitality students offer value as an informed consumer sample, providing insights that help organizations test ideas, challenge assumptions, and drive innovation. Bringing hospitality education to life means building partnerships that prepare students while empowering them to help reshape the industry itself. 📖 Read the full story at the link in our bio. by @prof.cheng
Level 55 unlocked. And yes, the graphics have improved. 😎🎂 by @prof.cheng
Why we do it 💙💛🐾. For 14 years, @fiuhospitality students, faculty and staff have been at the ❤️ heart of #northmiamibrewfest - the only all inclusive beer and food fest in South Florida. Proceeds go to the Chaplin School’s Beverage Management and Brew Science program, but most importantly, the festival gives students a chance to interact with the community, learn how to put on a major event, and even encourages them, #FIUAlumni and local business owners to showcase their own beer and food. So let’s raise a glass to this festival and support this amazing student-centered event! Want more info about the brew science program or how to get tickets 🎟️ to the festival? DM us BEER 🍻 or check out our link in bio 🔗 by @prof.cheng
